"today in the bay's" kris sanchez just spoke with a neighbor who tried, kris, to save the man from the flames but was not able to do so. heartbreak this morning. good morning. >> sam and laura, you can only imagine how helpless that man felt as he knew that fire was going off and his neighbor, dan, was inside. but sadly we know that that man did not survive the fire. fire department from mountain view tells us the flames were already rearing from the back of the house and there was heavy smoke in the area when they arrived. and then the neighbors, on top of that, was saying our friend, our neighbor is inside this house. and by the way, he is a gso thee is ammunition in there as well. they knew it was an urgent situation and they went right through the front door and that's when they started to hear the explosion and neighbors just had to watch. >> this black thick smoke. right when i saw that come out of the house i knew

i'm sam brock. >> and i'm laura garcia-cannon.ansas making headlines this morning after passing a controversial bill that critics say will allow businesses to discriminate against gays and lesbians. the religious freedom restoration act passed in the state senate last night, and is now headed to the governor's desk. the governor has previously said he will sign it into law, but he's facing new pressure this morning. late last night, one of the state's largest employers wal-mart released a statement onon twitter saying in part, "hb1228 threatens to undermine the spirit of inclusion present throughout the state of arkansas and does not reflect the values we proudly uphold. for these reasons, we are asking governor hutchinson to veto this legislation." many of silicon valley's highest profile companies and executives have come out strongly against the religious freedom laws. it is in that environment that likely presidential contender jeb bush steps foot in the bay area to fundraise. stephanie chuang joins us now from east palo alto

. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. let's check that forecast. rob in. >> breezy conditions you're going to notice this on the morning commute which we might keep a close eye on. wind speeds, 10 to 20 miles per hour. it will feel extra chilly outside as you head towards the lunchtime. low 60s. highs today, only in the upper 60s but some 80s in the forecast later this week. a look at that in a few minutes. a check for your tuesday commute, mike? >> wind is one of the factors that rob and i talked about before this show started. dublin, traffic flows nicely westbound coming out of the altamont pass. watch it through that area. looking away from us is the taillights. look at your map though. a few are slowing as you pass by greenville. the earlier crash cleared but there's slowing. may be flashing lights and distraction, maybe debris clearing. all lanes are reported open over the last few minutes. we'll track that out of the tri-valley. meanwhile, the bridges at the top of the screen and bay bridge got official wind advisories from the chp but rob i

i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm sam brock. let's check in with mike inouye and find out what the impact of the accident is. >> right now i have a wide shot. i'll talk you through the bottom of your screen. 98. top of your screen is where all the traffic stopped north of daif davis. this is very dramatic. look at the fire here. started out where it sounds like one crash. then is followed by a number of other vehicles getting involved in a secondary crash, same scene. just off the davis off-ramp. folks are able to exit off at davis. from time to time all lanes are closed or a maximum of one lane is open. flames, despite this dramatic scene we understand there's no death as a result of this crash. that's the better news. but there are some injuries and an ambulance from what chp says is going to enter knot of there and travel southbound on the lanes from 98. that's why we have to have that closure. this is a video from a few minutes ago. this happened just after 3:00. let's look at the live shot and talk you through this shot aga

i'm laura garcia-cannon.r arrest another on the run. it happened after the chp says the pair crashed a stolen car last night when a woman stopped to check on them the chp says one man took off running and the other got in her car. chp officers caught up to that care and chased it where the car crashed and officers made the arrest. >>> happening today, palo alto city council will vote on closing the last mobile home park. owners have been trying to close the park for years offering residents compensation to move out. at a meeting also night residents said they can't afford to livni where else. >>> want to check the forecast now with meteorologist rob mayeda. windy out there. >> winds 10 to 20 miles per hour. it's going to be a case of some cooling conditions around the bay area today. even up sunshine. only 67 in san jose today. mid 60s san francisco. to the north bay, upper 60s, close to 70 in santa rosa. tri-valley temperatures in the upper 60s. tomorrow the warmup begins. we're doing to see 70s around san j
