i'm kris sanchez in for laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm sam brock. if that did not wake you up, surely the cooler temperatures will as you step outside. >> some hot coffee will do this morning because we have chilly temperatures all across the bay area and even upper 30s in parts of the tri-valley and north bay. won't be as windy today and actually this afternoon will be slightly warmer than yesterday. and it will feel better, too, because we won't have those winds gusting at 30 to 40 miles per hour. here's a look at your lunchtime temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s. in the mid-60s today. south bay up to 64 degrees and, also, 64 in the tri-valley. we'll take a look ahead. the rest of the weekend some warmer air moving in. that's coming up in a few minutes. but let's see how the traffic is moving across the san mateo bridge with anthony. >> earlier we were talking about how smooth it is and things were really moving slightly. no concerns but i did want to show you the traffic. it is starting to build here and headed towards the bridge. i want

. >> i am laura garcia-cannon. we will momentarily continue that coverage but first get updated to our own local weather. first kari hall with a look at our weather. >> we have been tracking the rain as it moves through the overnight hours and a downpour that moves through the south bay and that has since tapered off and seeing spotty sprinkles out there this morning. that will be the case as we go through the rest of the day. here's a look at the rain timeline. we are looking at some of the rain that will be passing over some of the hilltops. most likely some of the valleys looks like they have a chance to clear out. a chance of rain as we go through the day. here we are at 4:00 and still showing some of those spotty showers moving through parts of the east bay hills and then, once again, the valley staying mostly dry. we do still have some light rain out there this morning. some wet roads and puddles still left on the streets as you head out and temperatures are cool. only 40 degrees now in the north bay. but 52

the good morning and thank you so much for joining us, i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm sam brock. so much for easing into the weekend. a team scattered throughout the bay area as this wave of wet weather hits and let's start with meteorologist rob mayeda with a timeline of the latest storm. >> a significant change on where the focus of the heavier rain will be. you see it right there west of san francisco and around the peninsula. that's moderate to heavy rain for a change. it's going to aim in on the central and south bay during the morning commute. expect to see the rain and wind increasing through 7:00 a.m. and changing over to scattered showers by noon and isolated thunderstorms could be in play by mid-afternoon with the heating of the day and the cool air aloft moving through. a mess for the morning commute and probably into the evening commute, as well. >> we're looking right now to the evening commute and the high rise likely to get caught with some of the gusty winds that rob is talking about. eastbound off of that high rise and also looking for any slowing. i haven't seen

laura garcia-cannon is off today. >> and i'm sam brock. so close to baseball season, we're talking about all the giants' opener. the weather is kind of catching pup >> it's still chilly in the morning, but during the afternoon, it's absolutely perfect. and we will have another beautiful day with some sunshine, a few high-level clouds mixing in, and also the temperatures that will be comfortable, reaching into the upper 60s to low 70s. but it's not comfortable now. it's only 38 degrees in napa. 53 in oakland. and san jose at 45 degrees. a little bit of a spread in those temperatures, as you drive from the north, farther to the south. looking at all the microclimates today, up to 70 degrees in san jose. 69 in palo alto. 64 in san francisco. 70 in napa. 71 in antioch. and 70 today in pleasanton. i'll have a look at the weather forecast heading into the weekend, which looks nice and just as nice as this. and then we'll have some rain moving in. that's coming up in a few minutes. let's head back to palo alto with anthony. >> we had an earlier c
