laura garcia cann. a good thursday morning. thank you for joining us. i'm sam brock. >> i'm laura garcia-cannon. it is guaranteed to be a busy thursday. the first of four storms moving in? >> it moves in during the morning commute. not a lot of time here. wave after wave of rain in the forecast. getting you out the door with wet weather moving through pretty much all of the bay area. we are starting to see things calming down for northern sonoma county, drayton. this is santa rosa, the last a little bit of it. we will see breezy winds near napa, sonoma, fairfield. as well as san francisco, oakland, and parts of the east bay. we are seeing pockets of really heavy rain near orinda. moving off to the east near brent wood and antioch, the rain getting heavier for the next few minutes fpltd. yellow on the radar. we are getting good coverage of rain as we start out early this morning. and this will be moving through quickly before we get ready for the next round of rain. we will talk more about that and what to expect coming up. heading over to mike looking at the bay bridge toll plaza. >> the volume

i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm sam brock. we will be with you every step of the way now. >> i feel like i have been through a lot of the south bay. taking back roads, taking a lot of different directions to get here this morning. like a lot of people will be doing. >> we had a complete closure. a live shot of 101 just north of the 680/2080 interchange sam was talking about. look at the lights right here. they are traveling north on 101. you're forced off the freeway just before you get to 280/680. a few cars heading southbound. i'll assume they are chp and caltrans. i'll give you any updates on any openings. anything north of the dumbarton bridge, completely fine. we had the closure for niles canyon that we continue to follow. full closure for both directions of 101. it is is a critical portion of the south pay. this is where we see the first slowing of the morning. we will see slowing on the approach coming up in the area. over toward 280 or 87 southbound. use that corner here as your workaround to avoid the stretch of 101.

i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm sam brock. we are happy you've been with us.have been on air since 4:00. let's start with highway 101. >> the highway 101 closure is a huge one. a huge impact on that commute. >> morgan hill reopened. this closure with sky rangers overhead. highway 101 is closed at 680/280. look at the headlights. folks are not able to get onto 101 past the interchange. a great shot here. forced off the interchange. let me get you back to the map. this is san jose where we have the closure with a portion of 101 for both directions. that is a critical of the commute. the rest of your commute pretty standard. will ripple all around the area. 101 commute direction jammed up. traffic packed up coming into the area. 280 to 87 is an alternate. just north of the airport. we do not know when this will reopen. we continue to see the build on 10 and 87. capital expressway to get around it. that is the pattern right here. now, i want to show you out there as well. 101. this is a closure just north of the 280-680 interchange. it looks okay right here. pete

i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm sam brock with you on this friday morning. >> it is all clear. we are still cleaning up from the mess we have had this week. water levels are still going down. so that's great news. look at how cold it is. it is down to 31 in morgan hill. 30, santa rosa. low 30s for san francisco and half moon bay. we are going to see temperatures making it into the mid 50s. this is much cooler than average. but we will take this plus of dry weather over the negative of below average temperatures. as we go into the weekend, we are tracking more rain. i'll detail how much to expect coming up in seven or eight minutes. as we head over to mike, a little more slowing through fremont. >> that is just a little bit. that is to be expected for 880 out of hey war. look how much green there is on the roadway. patches of mudslides for highway 935. kari, you talked about that. we still have cleanup to do. major commute. crash cleared up from the eastbound side. mild slowing just at university, east shore freeway. travel is great through the area. transit not reporting any
