laura. the rain has lightened up a little bit since half an hour ago. i'm told we're right by an area where it's picked up over an inch of rain here just as of this morning. so pretty incredible. one of the spots as sam was describing, a waterfall of sorts here in san francisco. this is a good sign that the water is not pooling up there where drivers are. we drove this section this morning through three large areas of standing water. you can see the video, huge pools of water. i was driving, it was very shaky and you could really feel the risk of hydroplaning. chp reported vehicles had been spinning out there and the good news is still no crashes so far this morning. as mike inouye suggested earlier, use middle lanes to avoid the deepest pools of water. back here live, you're seeing how much water is coming down. your speed is the greatest determinant in how well you can control your car today. chp says cars will hydroplane at 60 miles an hour in under an inch of rain. if you hydroplane, take your foot off the gas, don't make any quick turns and stay ca

abc 7 news reporter laura anthony has more on the problems on the freeways but we begin with elissa harrington live in mill valley, where there was a lot of water. >> reporter: a lot of water and a lot of traffic. this is what we have been waiting to see, traffic finally moving again. lanes back open after being closed for hours this morning. flooded by a mix of heavy rainfall and today's high tide. the water has finally receded but it was an absolute mess on highway 101 this morning. there were reports of flooding, accidents and other problems from novato to marin city. flooding blocked three lanes on southbound highway 101. it took people hours to get to work. the on and off ramps where 101 meets highway 1 were also closed. the park and ride was under water and so was at least one car that someone left there. the rain hammered marin county, dropping several inches overnight into the morning. the traffic and flooding got so bad, the mill valley police department sent out a tweet urging people to stay home. it said due to heavy traffic congestion and flooding in mill valley, everyone is advise

laura garcia-cannon has the day off. this morning police are investigating an early morning home invasion right now. stephanie chuang joins us. we're hear police are now looking for the suspect who they believe is armed? >> reporter: that's right. it's unclear whether it's one or more suspects they're looking for. we're very close to san francisco university. this is where the home invasion robbery happened. police confirmed it was armed. no visible signs of breaking down the door or anything like that at 108. there were eight to ten officers here earlier. and several patrol cars both san francisco state and spd responding. we did see a couple of young men, two to three. they may or may not be students as we are close to san francisco state. we have not been able to confirm that with police. the officers said the victims understandably very shaky. police couldn't say how many suspects because they said with multiple victims, there have been different accounts of what happened. officers have been here looking with flashli
