laura. thank you scott. well, turning back to our microclimate weather alert as the temperatures rise once again across the bay area, there is a warning for patients to make sure not only they have their medications, but understand their potential side effects. clint hopkins, the owner of a california pharmacy, says certain medications, including a variety of blood pressure and diabetes medications, as well as anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs, can potentially make you more prone to being physically impacted by the high temperatures. some medication makes patients sweat more, which can affect the ability to tolerate the heat. those meds already can dehydrate you, even in regular normal room temperatures. you have to drink extra water when you're taking those medications, and with the added heat, the body has a hard time keeping up. hopkins says if you're feeling faint, dizzy or dehydrated, make sure to drink extra water. and of course, get out of the heat. the heat also bringing out an unwanted guest.
