. >> i see laura thomas thank you. i'm the co- president of the harvey milk club. >> yesterday, i was at a meeting we were talking to folks from out of town talking about the psychosis of the san francisco model of hiv care and prevention and in that conversation i expressed how proud i was to be a part of san francisco's model of care and to the extended we've been leaders in the epidemic and much of the leadership has come if the san francisco department of public health and with the city and county government one of the things we do well, is follow the evidence and some days we create the evidence by doing the research that's needed to be effective and crap it is one of those we face barriers to prep and people are talked about those in terms of the stigma and the economic barriers stigma around people's sexuality around their drug use and the kind of work they do are things we've preside ourselves in san francisco on overriding as barriers to access to health care we need the type of investments in those cost effec

. >> reporter: sergeant thomas says neither the courts nor police department will ask for your personal information over the phone and that whoever laura was talking to could face serious charges. >> fraudulent information, pretending to be someone in law enforcement they're not. multiple crimes just off the surface of this phone call. >> reporter: police say if you think you're talking to a scammer you should try to get information out of them while they're trying to get information out of you. anything like a phone number, name, or even whereabouts, anything police can use to track those people down. in this case, police were not able to track down the phone number. >> morgan hill police say the most common phone scam is actually that irs scam. to protect yourself, the irs is never going to call you about taxes you owe without mailing you an official notice. it will never demand you pay taxes without giving you the opportunity to question that amount that you supposedly owe. it will never ask you for credit or debit card numbers over the phone. and the irs will never threaten to bring in local police to have you arrested for not payi
