i'm lauren lyster you're watching our t.v. there's so much going on in the world but what are the big stories that you are not likely to see on us mainstream media t.v. well what about the four hundred thirty thousand israelis some behind me who protested across the country over the weekend in the biggest protests. asked in israel's history they're demanding social justice a lower cost of living and government solutions for a struggling middle class may sound familiar if you're in the u.s. now what about the execution of troy davis the man you see there today a date was set for it to be later this month that's after u.s. supreme court decision cleared the way but just who is davis well he's a high profile death row inmate who claims he is innocent of killing this man savannah police officer you saw there now there's no physical evidence linking davis to the crime and seven out of the ten witnesses in his trial later recanted or changed their testimonies and those are just a few reasons he's become a focal point for anti death

here we are with lauren. can you tell us how long have been here so far and what you're working on? >> we started our residency on june 1, so we came into the studio then and spent most of the first couple weeks just digging around in the trash. i am continuing my body of work, kind of making these hand- embroidered objects from our day-to-day life. >> can you describe some of the things you have been making here? this is amazing. >> i think i started a lot of my work about the qualities of light is in the weight. i have been thinking a lot about things floating through the air. it is also very windy down here. there is a piece of sheet music up there that i have embroidered third. there is a pamphlet about hearing dea -- nearing death. this is a dead rabbit. this is what i am working on now. this is a greeting card that i found, making it embroidered. it is for a very special friend. >> while we were looking at this, i glanced down and this is amazing, and it is on top of a book, it is ridiculous and amazing. >> i am interested in the serendipity of these still life compositions. w

thank you for allowing me to hire lauren to direct this project from within the city administrators process. we would not be where we are without her. we owe him a tremendous amount of gratitude within the city. as your president knows, lawrence, assisted by a team of enthusiastic in turns over the summer, have put together a draft work plan, taking the 17 recommendations and breaking them down, plotting out how we best go about implementation. it is a 30-year implementation plan horizon that we are looking at. there is a very detailed timeline. many of these things that you see in phase 1 -- it is listed from being from 2012 until 2015. many of those things are now in process. we are working closely with dbi staff to work on these processes. we are well on our way, but obviously, it is a long-term project. a lot of things will happen over the course of 30 years, we anticipate. we are very fortunate to have strong support for mayor lee, as well as key members of the board of supervisors. we are certainly moving ahead as fast as we can, but in a very deliberate if manner -- delivered iberati

but lauren, the federal energy regulatory commission, ferc, i'm hearing about this order called 1,000, about transmission planning and costallocation. why is this so important? why are we hearing about it? >> what is it and why is it so pour? >> it accomplishes three things. it helps with the regional planning aspect of transmission. and as lou just mentioned, history keafl with regards to the transmission, everyone was looking and we are the united states and essentially the states were looking only within their own state. and order 1,000 helps put united back into the unid states to develop a system that is more integrated, to allow the kind of transfer of electrons that lou is talking about to transform our economy. so the regional planning aspect of it, it helps put guidelines on that and to enforce to design the system and design it in a much more regional manner. it requires the same entities to figure out how to pay for it. so it doesn't mandate how the grid is going to be paid for but says look, guys, once you develop and pick lines that have to be built to reduce congestion a

[applause] [applause] michellechu, 17, is a committed youth board member and on the youth empowerment advisory board. she is a college-bound ambassador in march from mentor school, where she is a wonderful model tutor. michelle is a responsible and motivated later working to bring you up voice to her community. [applause] nataliegranados, 18, has been a leader in the grenada movement where she had been in the budget crisis and have bravely spoken at the bourse supervisors. she has advocated for sense of participation and funding to be restored to our city's quality youth programs.
