lauren blanchard reports tonight that is raising concern about whether the united states can sidestep and economic crisis. the us has reached its debt limit. now congress is facing a deadline to reach an agreement on what to do, but the treasury secretary and much of washington hopes it doesn't take that long. it'll all clear up. it'll be fine. it's just all negotiation tactics. it's all screaming and hollering. in a letter to congress thursday, secretary janet yellen wrote that she now has to put in place her extraordinary measures to keep from defaulting. the treasury will pause investments into government employee retirement disability. and health care funds that will get the government to roughly june, though yellen says that timeline is quote subject to considerable uncertainty. the white house says they are firm on wanting a clean bill to raise the debt limit, meaning no strings attached to threaten default to the threaten economic catastrophe. nobody democrat or republican should do that, no matter how much they believe in their agenda. however new house speaker kevin mccarthy
