right we are almost out of time becoming the next right here on our team that capital account with lauren lister. hey there lauren it looks like the dow took a little plunge today i imagine you'll touch upon this subject absolutely the dow took a pretty big lunch today christine was down more than four hundred points at one point it closed down three hundred eighty nine points but it's so much more than just volatility in the market and a bad day in the market will explain why this is going on and you don't have to look any further than what's happening in italy and the rest of the eurozone to explain why this is that the bigger picture is why this matters and what impact it could have a lord it's not just a around europe certainly this was a big last few days with greece of course is and italy as you mentioned but let's talk about what's going on here in this country the discussion about cutting spending has gone native the discussion here in washington and today we learned that one of the ways that president obama wants to do that is to cut federal mugs and t. shirts talk a little bit about th

let's check in with lauren lister to see what else on the agenda lauren it is we have a great show for you today acclaimed author jim referred to his latest book currency wars is making quite a splash he's going to be on our show in studio to talk about this latest news coming out from central banks six of them of course the federal reserve being one of them to make dollars available very cheaply and easily to european central banks to get to european banks that need cash cave people are calling is essentially a bailout for the euro we're going to talk about what this means in terms of global currency wars and the kind of the latest round of ammunition fired off by central bank lives and what else do we have to look forward to well of course with this as you know he's one that we get so much feedback from and so we're going to ask him those questions on air because a lot of people want more insight into his views on gold and precious metals so we are going to give our viewers a chance to get their questions in and we had some for our guest today great well we look forward to that that

i mean death trial it appears that the jury may have reached a verdict so let's go straight to lauren lister who is live on the scene and who's been covering every detail lauren tell us what do you know you know nancy at this point we are hearing that the jurors have passed a note to the judge and that possibly a verdict could be delivered as soon as any minute here but as you mentioned earlier he has really dr conrad murray already been convicted in the court of public opinion after being called a murderer so many times on your show but as i said we are awaiting a verdict in this highly anticipated controversy ok's now laura i hear that isn't the only interesting thing that's happened here also here that that happens to be some kind of a sighting in the courthouse we are hearing reports that local police have been inundated with calls that done under that casey anthony is inside the courthouse as we speak now of course she has been fielding death threats ever since her acquittal however we have heard from a few key sources that perhaps because she was voted the second most creepy celebrity

capital account let's check in with lauren lister to see what's on today's agenda all right lauren i feel like all eyes around the country are on washington and they're about to hear about a super fail from our super committee i'm imagining you're going to touch. christine you are right you're predicting our agenda by all these days that is top on the agenda because as a supercommittee moves towards what looks like a super failure we're going to look at whose interest they really need these serving because we know that the country could face another downgrade as a result of not coming up with a decision here at least that is the risk being posed so then whose interests are at stake you know we know that two hundred corporate interests special interests have been lobbying the super committee so we'll look at that role and just bigger picture the broader role of kind of crony capitalism in this whole process really really interesting with what i've read about it at least is that the amount of times that they've met as a group democrats or republicans together has been so few and it has

good afternoon and welcome to capital account i'm lauren lister here in washington d.c. and the dow and s. and p. logged the worst thanksgiving week since one thousand nine hundred thirty two historically stocks have done well this time of year so is the u.s. stock market a turkey and for shoppers today it is black friday for those boycotting and protesting it it is occupy black friday now from pepper spray to staying in tents the two movements have brought about sums to writing links similar images as for black friday itself does it fuel corporate power and exploitation or does it fuel its better an economy driven by consumer spending we'll take a look at it and looking beyond black friday big picture can anything save the u.s. and western economies from leadership failures as european leaders race to save the eurozone and u.s. presidential candidates campaign for a chance to steer the u.s. economy is everyone headed in the wrong direction we'll see let's get to today's capital account. ok unless you're living under a rock you know that today is black friday a tradition

good evening welcome to capital account i'm lauren lister here in washington d.c. greece tonight is in political chaos after the prime minister tries to put the country's bailout to a public vote european leaders call him to an emergency meeting out the g twenty but are all bets now off and the eurozone debt crisis deal and could this d. rail the global economy for the u.s. could this trigger a banking crisis for banks that have bitten off more of a stake in risky eurozone debt than they can chew and in an era of too big to fail banks this is everyone's problem we know u.s. taxpayers are backing more than fifty trillion dollars of bank of america's derivatives for example who else has taken big bets with your money we'll talk to no need prince and the federal reserve announced it will not do more stimulus for now they cite slightly better economic growth based on last quarter's performance but when you look at the bigger picture this so-called recovery is lagging far behind our let's get to today's capital account. so just about an hour ago at three thirty european

i want to check in with laura lister to see is what is on the agenda lauren what do you got for us christine you know we are going to delve into something today that everyone should know about and i don't know why there are a large being raised all over the place in this city because derivatives everybody became acquainted with these during the two thousand and eight financial crisis because of the hazard that they posed and the risk and the defaults we saw now three years later derivatives the over the counter notional exposure of financial institutions all over the world have reached the highest level ever recorded in history christine more than seven hundred trillion dollars to give you something to compare that to global g.d.p. on kind of dwarfs that that's about sixty three trillion dollars let's talk about another thing that came out of the housing crisis you talk about derivatives and people knowing hearing that word another phrase that came out of that time too big to fail talk to me about what you've got working on regarding too big to fail and even bigger too big to fail oh yeah ch

a failure it is a question on the minds of many including our own laura lister host of the capital account here on r.t. and lauren is here in studio to talk more about this let's talk about this notion first of all that this that the eurozone could have literally ten days left to live yeah i mean it's interesting because it's something that we've had guests on our show on capital account talking about but now you're seeing it from people you know technocrats like tali who used to be the head of the bank for reconstruction in europe and he's saying that essentially there's a fifty fifty chance of the euro surviving by christmas until christmas that is all the euro has to survive unless european leaders get together you know you have more and more people making these predictions it would be considered insiders that would be considered technocrats that would be considered this down bushman is not a friend point of view anymore i was just about to say i think that's a really good point i mean it was weeks and months ago sort of what the outsiders would say but you saw it on the cover story of the economist magazine t
