in new smyrna beach, i'm lauren lyster abc news. a central iowa organization that helps haitians who have lost their homes in natural disasters is facing a devastating loss of its own today. the organization lost half of its facilities in haiti. the only buildings that survived the hurricane were what's called safe-t homes, which are made of metal. a medical and dental clinic, church, orphanages and school for about 450 children the organization built in haiti were destroyed or took on offical says, despite 95% of the homes in the area being wiped away in the hurricane, he's thankful for one thing.
