and when i did those, i worked for a film—maker named richard donner and his wife, lauren shuler donner. so we were producing free willy and dick always loved to put people who are working with him into the movies. and so for me, it was nerve—racking, and i realised very quickly, "i'm going to leave this to the pros..." it was your hitchcock moment. yes, it was. it was like, "i'm better behind the scenes than "in front of the camera." but, you know, one of the great things i learned early on, having done a lot of different things, like screenwriting in university, and acting, is empathy. at the end of the day, it is a creative endeavour and myjob is to actually empathise with the artist and make sure that i'm facilitating the best experience for them. because the best thing about what i do is i'm always 13 years old, because you can always dream. and then i think the worst thing is, you're always 13, because you've got that insecurity of putting yourself out there and putting that performance in that film. and every director has that anxiety that his or her art is going to be received b
