derrick ward is tracking the road conditions but first lauryn ricketts with the weather. lauryn? >> well have a busy day not only in the news department and traffic but the weather. we have rain. rain jacket and umbrella. what you need to wear. it is cool. a lot cooler than what we've experienced the last few days. temperatures anywhere from the mid-40s to lo w 50s as you head out the door. temperatures are stay static throughout the day. we'll see rain as we continue throughout the day. should be out of the d.c. area by noon, continuing with drizzle and light rain chances to the south and east, but we're going to keep those clouds around through much of the day unfortunately. temperatures in the 40s. cloudy and cool as we continue into the evening but we've got rain chances on monday, tuesday, wednesday. we're going to time it out and let you know what to expect on that seven-day coming up. >> thousands are either on the roads or getting ready to head back home after the thanksgiving holiday. here's a live look at columbia pike. a record number took advantage of lower gas prices

what's going on with the weather, lauryn?t as warm as yesterday or what. i think people will be crying about it by thursday. especially during the morning commute. we'll have some pretty nice rain moving into the area in time for the morning commute. low 60s as we continue into the evening. we'll drop into the 50s. we have some more clouds increasing. here is that rain that is headed for us. wednesday night into thursday could be heavy at times. timing it out for you, dodging some drizzle tomorrow. rain will fill in late going into thursday morning. watch for that thursday morning commute. again, some of that could be heavy through the midday on thursday. we expect it to be clear by the afternoon. then that temperature is going to drop. so low 60s today. as well as tomorrow. weather alert day on thursday. we're in the mid to upper 60s. by friday, we get sunshine. we're back around 50 degrees for the weekend. upper 40s on sunday and monday. >> all right. thanks. >>> that's it for new 4 midday. thanks for joining us. chris lawr
