. >> storm team4 meteorologist lauryn ricketts is taking a closer look at where you live and what ist. >> it's really a little bit of freezing rain, maybe a few pockets of sleet, but mostly freezing rain. just know if you're headed out on the roadways, you're going to hit icy patches. we're not expecting this to change over until after midnight when the temperatures will actually rise. got a lot of questions today, and that was it for the snow. snow is done. now the second part is the freezing rain and the frozen aspect, and then comes the rain tomorrow. it's going to be heavy at times. temperatures right now, boy, they have held in the 20s for much of the day. it was cold in southern maryland. it was cold all throughout the area. we had a lot of snow in southern maryland, and then now again we're concentrating on the freezing rain. could get about a tenth of an inch of glaze, maybe some areas just a touch more, but mostly around a tenth of an inch or less. it will be slick travel. and then by the a. messy even though we're getting rain i think in the sheltered valleys we will see fu

the holiday has been a blessing in all of this, lauryn ricketts. >> thank goodness. even though there were a lot of cars out on the roadways today, but still there could have been a lot more and we know how that would have ended up. and as we go through tomorrow morning, i still think we'll have a little bit of a mess even though it will be plain rain but it will be a lot of it. we're going to be looking at some rain moving through our region. temperatures are actually going up. so the snow is gone. freezing rain now with some pockets of some sleet. i am getting some reports from some of my twitterer followers, thanks guys, and, you know, and then through about midnight we're going it see this before those temperatures start to become above freezing moving in from the south to the north, and that's where that warm air is moving so freezing rain and sleet as we continue into the late evening. now, warming temperatures overnight. by about midnight, d.c. should be right around that 32 degree mark and we will continue to come up from there and that's why this next swath

we start news this morning with storm team meteorologist lauryn ricketts. >> we have a snowy mess outnowy mess for quite some time. a little bit of a break going to come, but then we'll see that change over to a little bit of ice and some rain. in fact, temperatures are gradually going to go up as we go into the evening and even overnight, and then we'll see rain through the overnight and

lauryn ricketts right here, right around our station just outside on the storm team4 weather deck, and lauryn, you just mentioned just since you went out over the last half hour, it's gotten a lot worse. >> this is what we use to cover up our monitor. this is just a thing i took off. look at the ice. you can see it sticking out right here. this is what's happened in the last 30 minutes. right there. so that is what we're dealing with. it is raining now hard here in northwest washington as doug just pointed out. re on contact and freezing immediately. again, i just took -- i was fine about 30 minutes ago and i walked out and it is so slick. so tonight areas of ice and slick spots. there are spinouts everywhere and that was about an hour ago. so please be careful. we're also going to have a few slick spots tomorrow morning north and west of d.c. in the sheltered valleys but also a threat of heavy rain. tomorrow afternoon going to be a lot better but we're already starting to see school delays. i'm tired of it. when do we have better weather on the way? that's what i want to know. >> we k
