and this slide was added by herb lavine who said it's not just about services here. it's really about people with civil rights to be able to live in the community and sometimes being able to exercise that right requires additional support and that's what this fund is about. so, in terms of the case for funding which we'll have to make for the voters, san francisco's total population is 811,000. about one out of every 5 san franciscan is over 60, the number of disabilities is about 40,000 and that's including those with dementia. these groups together comprised 26% of the city's residents. now over 200,000 people. we know from the needs assessments that we get every year that the numbers are growing. i would say that the department of aging and adult services just completed a very comprehensive needs assessment and plan over 300 pages of good information, but i was struck by the fact that there is a much stronger piece looking at disability demographics and issues than there has been in the past. so, this measure that we are putting on the ballot is called a "a set as
