it's back, lawrence and the rain. did you bring it with you, lawrence? >> it hasn't gone away all spring. we can't get that big ridge of high pressure building in stow that leaves the storm door open. we have another storm headed to the bay area today. showers beginning in the north bay. it will slowly work across the rest of the bay area. when will we see an end of the rain? we'll talk about that coming up. first elizabeth has traffic. >> we have an issue developing on the north side of the golden gate bridge. if you are coming out of the waldo tunnel there was some roadwork from there towards the north tower. and it sounds like only one lane is still open so this roadwork is opening late. but i have been watching this golden gate bridge camera for the last 30 seconds or so and i have not seen any southbound traffic come through. so it sounds like they may be holding traffic right now on the north end of the bridge. we'll continue to watch it. they hopefully should be wrapping up this roadwork shortly. but in the meantime, we'll toss it back to you guys

and did very well at the lawrence street school. so on graduation he needed to learn a trade, so his mother, elizabeth, with the help of george downing placed him first with patrick reason. so patrick is charles' older brother, i think. um, and he had become an engraver. he had worked, he'd apprenticed with an engraver from britain, stephen i think, and had become quite well known, and he took phillip into his shop as an apprentice. it didn't work out. so downing said three months probation satisfied parent and master that apprentice had not the slightest aptitude for the work. so then phillip came forward with his own idea and pronounced that he wanted to be a pharmacist. so that's when he was sent to, um, aparen he's with -- apprentice with james mcewan smith in his pharmacy on west broadway. and he was able to go to the college of pharmacy and you know the rest of the story. um, so what i want to point out not only that these men mentored, um, phillip, but also that they were businessmen in their own right. and i want to emphasiz

more sunshine, lawrence? we hope so. >> yeah. i think we're going to have a great friday here in the bay area. changes over the weekend. you can see why behind me. you have a cold front that's approaching the coastline. most of the energy is going to run over the top of this ridge but we are going to see a few high clouds from that over parts of the day today. still, a lot of sunshine coming our way. temperatures comfortable again. out the door, low clouds and fog. 40s and 50s outside but by the afternoon here comes that sunshine. and a few passing high clouds, still temperatures moving well into the 70s inland as high as 75 in fairfield, 74 in concord, 73 degrees in san jose. out at the coast, you have the fog and low clouds dancing at the coast, keeping temperatures down. over the weekend things will change as a weak system slides in. but we removed the chance of rainfall on sunday so we'll just see passing cloud and much cooler temperatures, probably a very breezy weekend as we'll see that cool air flowing off of the pacific.

how does it look over there, lawrence? >> wicked out there still tonight. check out the thunderstorms that were just ripping through this line as you can see making its way just picking up heading towards nashville. some very strong thunderstorms and possibility of some more tornadoes coming down overnight tonight. all right. here in the bay area, though, it looks like we are in for some more blustery weather at least along the coastline, winds kicking up again. patchy fog already developing tonight. inland though fairly mild. a lot of 60s, even some mid- 70s in the warmer spots. numbers right now. still blowing outside. gusts over 40 miles per hour still in san francisco. that's pretty impressive for this hour. as a matter of fact, we have got wind warnings out there at the airport as well. it looks like though tomorrow we are expecting some partly cloudy skies around much of the state. still a chance of a few showers in the high country in the lake tahoe area. otherwise we are going to keep things fairly dry around much of california. yeah, kind of a dry

let check traffic with elizabeth. >> thanks, lawrence.e going out to san francisco where our reporter anne makovec has been talking about street closures all morning. it's due to an overnight fatal hit-and-run. masonic is closed in both directions between turk an anza. we have also learned that several muni lines in the area are impacted so expect delays on the 521 and 31 muni lines. elsewhere, still dealing with this accident an injury accident. we learned that the fire department is on scene blocking a lane of eastbound 80 approaching carlson boulevard. our sensors are not picking up any slowing eastbound or westbound 80 through the area but again, some activity still out there. at the bay bridge toll plaza, nice and light. sun is coming up, so picture- perfect commute right now into san francisco. coming up along the peninsula 101 near third and bayshore, i believe the headlights are heading southbound. it's a little difficult to read that sign but overall, things look good out there for this friday morning. that is a check of traffic.
