one busy guy today our meteorologist lawrence karnow. it's nonstop from the get-go because it's a slow-moving storm. it's different than the last one that moved through. urban and small stream flood advisory for most of the bay area except napa and sonoma counties. we have to watch out for flooding in the san jose area. they continue to see rain coming down there. moderate to heavy rain. they are not the only ones. east bay seeing plenty of rain, as well. but we are starting to get an idea we may be getting toward the back side but the rainfall is impressive. this is about the last 12 hours. almost 8" of rain in venado in the north bay, over 7" and counting in mount umunum in the santa cruz mountains, over 3" in santa rosa an inch in san francisco, 1.47" in concord, 1.19" in san jose. we are seeing the become side of this coming up here. another storm on the way will bring heavy rain and flooding. we'll keep our eyes on that for you. >> thank you. >>> a cbs 5 team is out in the storm. we have cate caugiran on the ground in san francisco

we'll get to lawrence in a minute.beth is following a fatal accident in san jose. >> that's right. we want to take you live right now. our photographer just got to the scene. you can see san jose police department is out there doing traffic control. you're looking live at alum rock and jackson avenue the scene of as you said a fatal accident. around 6:00 is when it was first reported. apparently police have cleared this scene but they are still blocking traffic in and around that area. so you're going to want to use caution. it's wet, so many accidents across the bay area and a lot of them on major roads. so let's look live right now at the bay bridge. the metering lights were turned on a little while ago and we have delays in the cash and fastrak lanes so if you are heading towards sfo from the east bay you're going to have a wait to get you through those pay gates and stacking up towards about the 880 overcrossing. elsewhere, i mentioned a couple of different accidents. we are following two separate traffic alerts. t

here's lawrence. >> yes. we have been having some spectacular weather over the last couple of days, elizabeth, but that's all about to change. it is quiet outside right now. mostly clear skies toward the coastline and inside the bay. a couple of patches of fog showing up in some of the north bay valleys so watch out for that. 40s and 50s for the most part right now but this afternoon, we are going to notice those clouds start to thicken up. cooler but nice. temperatures mainly in the 60s pushing 70 degrees in the warmest spots inland. but just off the coastline, we have this area of spiraling clouds that area of low pressure that's going to approach the coast throughout the day today. high pressure going to start to give way now and those clouds will start to flow in later today and then tonight, i think we start talking about some raindrops. rain becoming more likely as we head throughout the day tomorrow and that's going to open the storm door, i think a stronger storm moves in toward late saturday into sun

and we begin right now, we have meteorologist lawrence karnow all fired up. he is setting by the hi-def doppler. cate caugiran at the richmond/san rafael bridge. but lawrence karnow, i have seen the hi-def doppler and it looks green. >> that hi-def doppler doesn't lie, frank. it is showing some very heavy rainfall now just off the coastline. look at the yellows and the oranges there. this is just about to move onshore in time for the commute this morning. it is going to be a wild commute outside. some of the rain in the heavier bands coming into the north bay now. expecting that rain to intensify throughout the morning hours and along with this cold front that's moving through, some very strong gusty winds. purple along the coastline here is where we have a wind warning up along the coast as we are going to see some very strong gusty winds continuing all the way up into parts of the north bay, as well. could see 55, maybe 65-mile-an- hour gusts along with this system and showers continuing into parts of the north bay now. that means the main focus now but rai

let's get the latest on these storm conditions with lawrence. >> yeah. a fierce storm moving through the bay area. it's been stormy all night. we have seen gusts over 50 miles an hour along the golden gate bridge 48 at sfo, lightning strikes and all that rain. hi-def doppler is showing you the yellow and orange sliding a little further to the south now as this next strong band slowly works through. very heavy rainfall throughout the night. in parts of the east bay it's stormy. moraga, danville pockets of moderate to heavy amounts of rainfall in toward walnut creek. heavy rainfall also extending down into the south bay. flash flood warnings have now been issued in museum along the penngrove stream. expect flooding there. waters will continue to rise but we could see flooding elsewhere and a tremendous amount of rain in the last 12 hours or so. headed out the door this morning very wet and windy start to the day as we head through the day, though, this will turn to showers. and then storm number 3 moves in on saturday night. we have to keep our eyes on the
