news4's chris lawrence is live on capitol hill with more on that part of the story. chris? >> reporter: well, jim, if you look at our area really, has one of the largest gaps in income of anywhere in the country. so really we are ground zero for the argument for and against what the president is proposing. here's basically what he's laying out. he wants to give some tax breaks to the middle class specifically about a $500 credit for married couples and raising the dependent child care tax credit to $3000. that would be welcome for a lot of families here who are struggling with the cost of daycare. he also wants to pay for two years of community college, again, very beneficial for those who are really hurting at the thought of trying to pay for college in this area. how's he going to pay for it? basically he wants to raise the capital gains tax raise other taxes on the so-called wealthy. we spoke to some virginia republican who is say when you look at the cost of daycare, the cost of housing in this area, how he defines wealthy say $500,000, they say it doesn't really apply
