news 4's pat lawson muse is here with the results of a new report by the urban league. >> the title forhis year's state of black america says a lot, locked out, education, jobs and social justice. this year the urban league looked back 40 years and during that period there haven't been much success in narrowing the gaps. between 1976 and 2016 the unemployment rate for african-americans remained for white americans. here in the washington area the gap is slightly wider. for gaps it's about 11% and for whites it's closer to 4%. we talk a lot about the gender pay gap, but after 40 years, black americans still only make 60 cents for every dollar that white americans make. here in the washington area where next are higher and we have the majority community in prince georges county we still see the same gap. black households making $66,000 a year while white households bring in around $109,000 a year. another area where the gap widened is home ownership and the gap found that the foreclosure crisis kept black ownership rates at the same lechl as we saw in 1976 while white home ownership level

. >> i'm pat lawson, ns with major cleanup this morning across the area after strong storms, cars and homes crushed. >>> more showers moving in later this afternoon. i'm storm team 4 meteorologist tom kierein. i've got new hour by hour timing. >>> news 4 midday starts now. >> and we begin with breaking news out of northeast d.c. where we're learning about the armed carjacking of a metro bus. we're getting information about this. what we know is that at least several juveniles got onto a bus, we believe in northeast d.c., within the last hour, assaulted the driver of that metro bus and then took off on the bus. we know there were several minor accidents for the short distance that these people had this bus. at this point we know the driver is safe. he was injured. he's being treated right now at the intersection of minnesota avenue in northeast d.c. that is where this bus stopped. what we don't know at this point is whether there were any passengers on that bus. we don't know where the suspects are at this point. either we do know a knife was involved in the jacking of this bus. so at
