set an example for future san franciscans, and also because san francisco was supposed to be a leadership city, we should send out the word that it is not just the fbi that puts the bad guys in jail. we need cooperation from watchdog agencies like the ethics commission, and they should be doing their job instead of handpicking the cases and, in a certain sense, offer protection, in my opinion, to other cases that they choose not to hear it is so i think people like joe support this, and i am sure in the but of all the, i am sure most people would support it. because when you have that here at the commission that protects everyone, no matter what their politics or personal beliefs are, so i think something like this is way past due, and i think that everybody should support it. because it protects everyone living in san francisco. thank you. supervisor campos: thank you very much. is there any other member of the public who would like to speak? seeing none, public comment is closed. colleagues, we have this before us. i have a motion. president chiu: i want to thank you for moving this forward.

the very indict push that we have to have in this city because it's going to be more than enthusiasm that's going to get us there. it will be leadership, enforcement, all the things that you know we have to do to change culture. what i've been doing is talking with a lot of residents on the west side of this city who are challenged because they're so used to being in their cars and they feel that righteousness of having an expensive vehicle and having paid for it and all the insurance and all of that i used to have when i had my three cars. that we only needed one. maybe a half a car and i had three because i was in that culture myself, and to think back about what really led me to feel that way and trying to pierce that culture that we still have very much in the city, that it's my road and that those who want to introduce something different, it's their responsibility to be more safe than i because it's my road. that's what we have faced up with. and a lot of these corridors do have a direct connection to the ramps that go to our freeway. so it's very hardcore values and culture that we're facing to really make that change. so i wan

residents filed a petition last week saying he failed to provide leadership for the city. and drive got the go ahead to collect signatures for medical marijuana. the initiative would charge a sales tax on marijuana that would bring in hundreds of millions of dollars. they say the crack down will help get that passed. >> a lot of people on the sidelines, you know, you know, waiting for this to come out. you know,you know, the position of the united states department of justice has really brought us a lot of support. >> the measure would keep state and local law enforcement officials from helping helping helping the government. organizers need to collect a half million signatures. >>> teachers and school administrators are bracing for more cuts. they are expected to release its projections in six weeks. according to them, if revenue is down funding could be reduced by 4%. money for bus transportation could also be slashed. it state was $654 million short of projections. >>> tonight is halloween, the unofficial kickoff to the holiday season. ktvu's maureen naylor is live with

supervisor mirkarimi participated in a number of our events and has always been supportive in the city leadership. the mayor has provided us with his support of the activitying that we do -- of the acts that we do, and senator leno has his eye and support for small businesses and recognized one of our programs and one of our small businesses who works on the doyle drive construction contract. during one of our ground-breakings, we were lucky to have julie berry, who is also present here, who does concrete work. cam-con is the small businesses she operates. she came to us with three employees after she did get a contract. i believe she has raised up to 10, and she has brought at least one, maybe more, concrete pump trucks. six now. well, that is even better. so we have good examples of those who really want the contract, work at it. we provide the opportunity, and the rest of it is with those who have the skills to come forward. as i mentioned, paul, julie, and michael sitting next to julie, is also part of the business that is run. julie was -- and her company, was actually featured on the white

we have been successful because of the city's leadership role and so on. because of our evidence-based probation and compliance with 678 and our success, i will receive a grant of $834,000. i am committed that every penny of that will go to services. that is a new, a brand new funding source that we have not had. i have also applied for a second chance grant for $1.4 million. that is for additional substance abuse treatment. i intend, continuing to be very aggressive in my pursuit of those grant type dollars, i have successfully achieved four grants related to gender response of programs and services, family probation services. i believe the resources are out there, but we have to be innovative with to rio approach and the models that we approach so that we continued to -- with who we approach and the models that we approach so that we continue to get outside funding. supervisor kim: there is a concern about transitional housing, because nonprofits look for potential group housing. they will live primarily in certain neighborhoods that have a higher densit
