gas leann prices jumped upwards of 14 cents last week. and the average price of a gallon of unloaded is 3. it is a hot button issue that president obama and republicans are sounding off on. doug is live here in washington with much more on this situation. >> afternoon, uma. america faces the unprecedented rise in gas prices for this time of year, what is most striking in a lot of people's minds is the polar opposite views of the two parties as to what is causing that price rise. how much have gone up. national average rose 12-14 in the last week alone and standing at 3.65 a gal yon that is higher than a year ago at 3.23 . both parties do agree that tensions in the middle east and iran contributed to the rice. but after that parties part ways. administration is touting the all of the above approach to energy policy. >> under my administration america is producing more oil today than any time in the last eight years. 2010 dependence on foreign oil was under 50 percent for the first time in a decade and there are no short term silver bullets
