i'm leanne gregg reporting from colorado city, arizona. >>> meantime, a temporary wall collapsed in los during heavy rains there yesterday. a home was left teetering above a stream of water after the collapse you see there on the right. officials say the concrete wall was built to control water during a construction project. several homes were evacuated. no one was hurt. >>> a fire burning in northern california is now the largest and most destructive wildfire of the summer. the so-called valley fire has grown to 67,000 acres. that's more than twice the size of san francisco. a fire has destroyed nearly 600 homes and forced nearly 23,000 people to flee the area. the fire killed one person and injured four firefighters, officials estimate the flames are about 30% contained. the cause of the fire still is under investigation. >>> the refugee crisis in europe has taken a violent turn today. the associated press reports hungarian police have fired tear gas at migrants who broke through a razor-wire fence. this comes as hungary convicted a migrant for illegally crossing into the country. the

nbc's leann gregg on the arizona side of that border. we have more rain in the forecast.you tell us? >> reporter: more rain complicating the search efforts. one of those areas to focus on today, a 7-mile stretch of the creek bed right here looking for a 6-year-old boy who was last seen in the vehicles that wept into the river on monday killing three women, mothers, sisters and nine children inside the vehicles washed away in the rains. in a separate search in the zion national park looking for three people missing part of a group of seven who got permits on monday morning to go in and do some hiking and warned at the time that conditions could become severe in the afternoon but that happens all the time in this time of the year during monsoon season. they weren't expecting things to become this severe. we're told by officials at the national weather service this was a 100-year event with the volume and pace of the rain that caused this massive flood and the search for them, four people from their group died. they were found on tuesday. the bodies of those victims. so agai

leanne gregg is live for us in h hildale, utah, and what is the latest on that one person still missing you're hearing? >> reporter: that search effort will continue tonight for the person. and what they definitely don't want to see is more rain happening, a thrash flood warning is in effect for this evening. they've been searching since this happened last night, brought in the heavy equipment. hundreds to have people volunteered to look through this debris and mud and tree limbs, all of this after the flooding, the waters receded. it happened yesterday afternoon. the warning was in place, but no one expected it to be this bad. 2 1/2 inches of rain within two hours, already on saturated soil and swollen rivers. and those two vehicles filled the 16 people, women and children, who had reportedly been to the park and stopped to take a look at the rising waters when what was described as a wall of water slammed into the back of them and shoved them into the channel. so it was a horrific scene. and you could see the dramatic pictures of the flow of the water, the strength of it. they're used

leanne gregg is joining us now from colorado city.re giving an update currently as we speak. so what more do we know about the search for the missing? >> reporter: thomas, they are continuing to emphasize that finding the missing people, that's the priority. they also said that the youngest victim they are looking for is a 6-year-old, a little boy named tyson black. he was in one of the two vehicles that went off the road killing nine other children and three women. one of the survivors who got out before the accident was going actually to get help because they couldn't get the car across the flooded roads. so a severe tragedy for this community. and you mentioned the other four people who were killed in zion national park an hour from here. their three companions are also among the missing. earlier today the organizers got together and talked about their plans and their search plans for today. and one of the challenges will continue to be the weather. this is the third day in a row that heavy rains are expected this afternoon. and th

nbc's leanne gregg is live for us in phoenix. what's the very latest on these copy cats?l at large? >> reporter: good morning, jose. those three teenagers, 18 years old, were arrested on saturday night after police say they admitted using a sling shot to hurl rocks at vehicles. one of the drivers in one of the vehicles got their license plate and called authorities and they were quickly apprehended. they were questioned and that's when authorities determined they were copycats and had nothing to do with these shootings that have happened along this eight-mile stretch of interstate 10 in the last two weeks. 11 people -- or rather, 11 different vehicles were confirmed to have been shot. there's also another person in custody from an arrest on friday night. he, too, authorities say, is not a prime suspect. he's being held on unrelated charges. they say there are three different methods of operation that they're looking at. eight of those cases involved bullets. three involved projectiles. they could either be pellets or rocks or some kind of bbs. at least one is a case of ro
