this is the lesson of king lear. in the opening scenes he says which of you say you love us most and his daughter, right on time, i love you more than words can wield the manner. the attempt to give away power from lear may seem to go badly wrong because one of his daughters refuses to play the game. but the problem starts early. power isn't something you can simply give away. there needs to be a ritual. there needs to be a way, some order in which it can be passed from one person to together. richard the second, the medieval king, and we will set aside how accurate this depiction was. richard the ii was a faithful man and someone who acts irrational and doesn't consider what he is doing and that weakness is this down fall. a man who eventually became henry the fourth rebels against richard who went to ireland. he said how could this happen? show us the hand of god that has dismissed us from our stewardship for we know no hand of blood and bone can grip the hand of our saver savior. he occupies the physical body and
