so at least here in d.c. we've got several more hours of dry but hot, humid weather. this morning we've got down to the the lower 60s west. we stopped in the low 70s. you see 68 in easton and frederick and la plata 63. right now while easton is actually 90 at the airport, a little more sunshine. out west and southwest, more clouds and showers. leesburg is 80 while we are kind of toasty, 87. some hazy sunshine out there on our michael & son weather camera. cloudy skies but the high thin ones being reported at national with the humidity at 43% of the i checked the heat index still in the upper 80s. we're watching this line of showers and storms ahead after cold front. some severe storms down across southern missouri, northern arkansas. that's one piece. then you've got moisture flowing north. that's piece number two. all of this is going to come together late tonight and tuesday giving us showers and thunderstorms. some of them could be around for the morning rush tomorrow and the afternoon rush. so today green, good, just hot, 90. there will be an isolated storm or two

help folks here in california at least, a trip to the gas station usually comes with a lot of pain at the pump. >> there could be relief in store. tracie potts joins us live from washington, d.cwith good news about gas prices. >> reporter: good morning, everyone. gas prices averaging under $4 a gallon in california. we've seen them suddenly dropping across the country over the last ten weeks. taking a look at the bay area, right now you're at $3.99 as of it this morning in oakland and san jose. san francisco is a bit higher, it's 4.11. all of those prices are down around 30 cents or more just in the last month. so people aren't feeling as much pain at the pump. part of it has to do with the weak economy here and as you were talking about in europe that drives down demand. that also drives down prices. the other part of that is the fact that oil prices have been dropping, so that has an effect on the pump also. what does it mean into the summer driving season? more people on the roads. aaa says you can expect about 5% more people traveling this fourth of july than the year before. taxes also having a big impact on what people pay at the pump. the highest state taxes are in new
