after lee canyon received six inches of snow on saturday night. but -- visitors have left trash near the sledding area. you can see leftover pieces of broken sleds in a park officials urge everyone to pick up any trash before leaving the mountain. temperatures continue to hit the freezing mark in the valley. many tourists staying bundled up while enjoying the sights of the strip. some say they were surprised at how cold it is... but are finding ways to stay warm during their stay. "the casinos are pumping so much air: we've just been going from casino to casino." canyon. >> they are not. they have been involved in a resttor asian project that's why they received a good sum of money from prominent environmental agency today. >> leebeautiful canyon like this field in oakland. add some sec graders from joaquin miller elementary and you have the makings of a great restoration project. >> we pulled 8 bag of invasive plants. this will help keep the creek healthy. >>reporter: im proving and maintaining the creek is also one of their duties. all through this canyon there are habitat restoration projects like this one and what the kid have done here is something that could actually help protect the area during el nin nino. >> we have been taking this and playing games to learn more about them. >>reporter: they replace the invasive plant with native ones. >> even at the top of the water shed you need the plants to stabilize the areas because of the reins and they are washing through and you need the plants. >>reporter: noaa was so impressed that the agency awarded them more than 6000 dollars to be shared with 3 other east bay schools that are also helping to save our oceans because eventually everything ends up there. hi
