heaviest has been to west all morning long on 66 toward reston, leesberg, toward dulles and gaithersburgnchester and front royal have had good rain and light showers inside the beltway. to the east toward prince george's county, out towards anne arundel county, annapolis, severna park, lighter shower activity. but that doesn't mean we're done with it yet. rain continues to stream in from the south and west and will be with us on and off throughout the day today. let's push on to satellite radar and i'll show you the bigger picture here and off to the south and west there is the rain shower activity. i speak of it. and when i open it up, you'll see the area of low pressure and the associated showers and even thunderstorms are further to the south, down into the deep south. and this will travel up the appalachian and push into the washington area. so clouds with us today. and even the possibility later this afternoon to get a frontal system during the nighttime hours. we could hear a few rumbles of thunder and get gusty winds during the nighttime hours. so look out for that later tonight.
