there might be a little bit of lingering sleet left over in the northern suburbs like lehigh valley, maybe berks countypecially up toward lehigh i think but it's really becoming less of a factor. i'd still take it slow up there just in case something froze up earlier in the overnight hours but it's mainly rain for the rest of us. you could see that some of this is a little on the steady to heavy side with some pockets highlighted in yellow. the wider view on satellite and radar shows that you farther to the north in new york and the poconos you've got that mixed precipitation and all out snow farther to the north and east. if you're driving to the poconos you'll have problems this morning. that should get better around midday and this rain looks like it's probably going to get out of here around midday as well and then we might even see some breaks of sun later. 45 degrees right now in philadelphia. so, no the too bad temperature-wise. still closer to the mid 30's in allentown and red hing. but again, we are changing over to rain there. 42 degrees in trenton. 50 in millville and 53 he in sea isle city.

to find these little pocket every pink across portions of the most outlying suburbs, in lehigh and northampton county generally this is rain at this point, for most of you, unless you are traveling north, and the winter weather alerts have actually since been reduced even through the lehigh valley. news just the poconos, points north, in winter weather advisory, enough moisture to produce some substantial snow up through northern maine main. so, we kind of got luck think time around. if you were hoping for snow, i know some of have you been, just not going to happen this time around. but look at the spread, anywhere from the mid 50's, to the 20's, even just a handful miles away, what 100, 150 miles max. so what that tells you is that there is a transition taking place, as we speak, the further north you go, the colter will be, and when you have got 20's, mid 20's, in albany, you are looking at snow out there. we walk you through future weather. what happens after this? so by lunchtime, seeing the rain pull away. we need cold front to cross through however. once it does, it is going to eventually brin

nbc 10 cameras were in lehigh county this morning where there was no snow but the rain still made for a messy morning commute. drivers had to be cautious on the slick roads out there. nbc 10 meteorologist sheena parveen is here with the forecast for the rest of the day. how is it looking? >> it's improving across the area which we expected around this time of the day. the snow is up into parts of maine. the icy mix, that wintery mix, is following, shaded by pink. we, though, only have the rain around so a closer look, not much going on along the major interstates from trenton to philadelphia down to wilmington. we're seeing spotty sprinkles so still misty, a few light sprinkles here and there but a majority of the rain has moved out now. parts of atlantic county may be spotty showers but as we go through the rest of today it will continue to clear up. temperature now in allentown is 40 degrees. 51 philadelphia, 63 in wildwood so quite a temperature range from north to south and it's going to stay like that this afternoon. quite a temperature difference the farther south you go it coul

however, this evening, whether it is six or 7:00 p.m., depends on your location, lehigh valley, berks county, carbon, monroe, these are the counties here in our area, that are going to be in a winter weather advisory. probably could have guessed that, right, it tends to be the coldest spot of our area when you have got this kind of pattern. that's what we've got. quick just sort every run down who have can expect what here, snow and ice turns to rain for the lehigh valley, poconos, it will be strictly rain, in philadelphia, and the immediate vicinity. and all point south of that. but we're talking heavy rain, for example, we could be talking an inch, to 2 inches plus, worth of precipitation over say 12-hour span. so that will slow you down. pair of four's, the current temperature meanwhile at philadelphia international airport. not terribly breeze any most spots, but again we have the chill in effect here, that's going to help us in the poconos, with at best mid 30's for daytime high to get that wintery mix and going on at least initially. i'm going to be tracking this storm system, and the

berks county lehigh valley to the poconos. main threat would be some sleet brief at first and then it will change to rain by tomorrow morning's rush hour. so, at 8 o'clock tonight, again a few spitting showers of rain and that blue is the sleet. as we speed up time by 9:30 tonight you see some of that sleet falling in the lehigh valley. rain elsewhere across much of the area through about midnight tonight, heavy rain developing philadelphia to the south. still some sleet to the north. and by 4 o'clock in the morning, we start to in inthat sleeflipthat sleet to rain. rain to philadelphia south and east and for the morning rush at 7:30 heavy rain everywhere so ponding on the roads will be the major concern for tomorrow morning's rush hour and by about lunchtime or thereafter the rain is off the coast and we start to even dry it out to the north and west. so in the advisory area in the lehigh valley, the low tonight is just going to be 34 so lows are not going to dip below freezing in allentown so maybe a little sleet on the gras

you see few speckles of pink basically across the lehigh northampton county border, so very much neighborhood dependent this morning as to what you will find in any given community. but in the poconos specifically, if you are going to be headed up toward i80 perhaps, sleet, freezing rain to kick it off. it will eventually turn over to rain though, not maybe for another few hours, so winter weather advisory posted through 11:00 this morning. watch for the icy travel up that way specifically, but just slow travel in general, because obviously it doesn't have to be ice for to you get slowed down. when that rain is coming down heavily as it is and widespread as it is you are going to need the extra time. so, either bank on being late to work, or bank on needing to hit the road little sooner, right? 62 degrees the expected high. so it is a milder day. and then we start to see that drop off on the thermometer once again. even though high pleasure rebuilds in time for the new year, meisha, it will turn a lot chillier. >> all right, katie. i can tell you already this rain is certainly affecting us. w

dense fog advisory, in effect, for mercer county, new jersey, and pa, it is bucks, montgomery, chester, lancaster, berks, lehigh, northampton counties for the rest of the morning. we have half mile visibility in dover. they're not under the advisory, but they still have some fog. so just be careful. allow yourself some extra time. don't be rushing around because you could really run into that pea soup if you're in trenton, allentown, reading, lancaster right now. we have cloud cover on ultimate doppler, unlike yet, not any rain. by tonight, we should have some. we'll show you future cast in just a little bit. it is 46 degrees with calm winds, 5 miles visibility at the airport. soap, we're not too socked in there. but we will keep an eye on the situation, we have temperatures that are chilly, but not as chilly as they usually are this time of year. 46 degrees in philadelphia, above the average high temperature for this date, which is 43. so we will get 10 degrees above average today. but by the end of the day it, looks like we'll have few showers, sunshine, though, early in the day it, will fade by lunchtime. so
