bidding could go as high as a billion dollars. >> let's check on our weather with leigh glaser. >> leigh: hi there, everyone. a cold rain has settled over the bay area. the clouds trapping a pool of cold air close to the surface. this is looking west. the bay bridge here, a mercky view as the fog is starting to settle in as well. let's get right to live doppler 7hd. those in the north bay, cold showers off and on all morning long, you can see that most of the activity now has slipped to the south of san francisco so the south of san jose in the north bay, starting to see dish won't say partial clearing but some of this is very light, starting to ease up. but points southward and eastward, you're still going to find light rain pushing through the livermore valley area, towards niles road, and down towards the gilroy area, hollister, morgan hill, that's where the light to moderate rain bands filter through, and all of this will slowly place back overnight. we'll keep a chance of showers in the forecast. temperatures right now, cool in the mid-to-upper 40s. in all locations. cold showers ov

>> leigh: we are but what a morning it has been across the bay area. golden gate bridge this morning, recording wind gusts up to 60-miles-an-hour this morning, and the heavy rain that moved through the bay area earlier in the day. live doppler 7hd, signaling pretty much all clear across the bay area. still picking up just a few lingering showers from gilroy down into -- heading into the central valley. looks like we will get chance to dry out tonight. here is a look at that cold front. boom. just moves through. over the golden gate bridge, 7:00. you can see the clearing behind it. well enjoy some clearing tonight. rainfall, the last 4 hours, -- 24 hours, clearly this is a north bay storm. over two inches in santa rosa, over one inch petaluma. lesser amounts towards the south bay. i do want to tell you that all of the flood warnings issued for the napa and russian river have been cancelled. our wind advisory and flashflood watches for the bay area have been cancelled as well. but, but more rain in my seven-day forecast. i'll let you know when to expect

the lights will be on until december 30th. >>> let's get to leigh glaser. >> leigh: live doppler 7hdetting rather active right now. you can see very moderate rain from san rafael, heading up towards the napa and sonoma valley areas. here's a look at a closer viewpoint from san rafael points north, east to novato. nap park moderate rain moving in actually kind of squeezed in between airport boulevard and browns valley road. you can see the yellows illuminated on highway 121, airport boulevard also seeing moderate rain, and you can see it just starting to move over the bay there this particular area is going to move over towards the richmond parkway, san pablo so all of this is pushing off towards the east. hercules starting to see some effect. rain picking up, and in 10 or 15 minutes you'll see more. between alameda and san leandro, light rain. hayward, light rain, and the moderate band of way making its way toward the east, morgan hill, monterey, picking up moderate rain. and temperatures right now, a mild system. we're all in the upper 40s to low 50s. here's a look at our forecast.

nbc's danielle leigh joins us live with the latest on capitol hill. danielle what is the datest in terms of what we can expect in the next coming days and the likelihood that they can reach a deal? >> reporter: mara, good morning. well, this meeting that is the last meeting at the white house is going to be integral. they need to see progress in this meeting if they're going to get a deal done before midnight on monday. as you know, the senate keim back early from the christmas holiday yesterday. but they didn't seem able to compromise. they continued the bickering. the house wasn't even here. they're not even in play yet. they're not back until sunday. we need to see congressional leaders see some kind of a plan that can be voted on before that december 31st deadline. lawmakers say it's getting decreasingly unlikely that's going to happen. a deal before the new year, although they seem it's possible, many think a deal will more likely come early in the new year, mara. >> and danielle, what will it mean for all of us in our pocketbooks if we do go ove

we're joined now by abc's bianna golodryga and leigh gallagher of "fortune" magazine. and leigh gallagher of "fortune" magazine. thth for joining day after a deal goes down? they don't actually make a deal? >> well, look, jon, i don't have a crystal ball in front of me but we saw a 2% decline in the dow last week. if we don't have a deal i think we'll continue to see a drop. i don't think it will as huge of a drop and fortunately to press washington's hands the way we saw in 2011 last summer and before t.a.r.p. was passed but ultimately when we get some sort of mini deal we will see a rally back up but again this only buys us a few weeks because as your panel noted we have the debt ceiling coming up in february. >> i mean the counters, will wall street reward this mini deal or will it be seen as this doesn't do anything. >> i think we may have a couple days' bounce, the market rallying back up a percentage point or two but i think ultimately the eye is going to be in what happens in february when that debt ceiling comes up. >> and leigh, have the markets really fully t

let's check in with leigh glaser when the rain will return. >> it's been a crazy morning around the bay area with that heavy front moving through. you can see behind me live doppler is quiet right now. most of the storm system has moved to the south and east of the bay area. we're not picking up any returns at all. let me show you our 24-hour rainfall totals mainly that occurred this morning. over 2 inches in santa rosa. three inches in mounted st. helena. san francisco inch and a half and lesser amounts as you head towards the santa clara valley. let's take a look at the five day storm totals. three storms moved in here. you can see mount st. helena, close to 13 inches. santa rosa, close to 8 inches as well as san rafael. san francisco close to 4 inches. oakland close to 4 inches and san jose racked up close to 2 1/2 inches. as you mentioned, another system is headed for the bay area, not as strong. we'll take a look at the timing coming up. >> a scary situation in pescadero. fire crews had to rescue two drivers who's cars got caught on flooded highway 101. it caught maybe many people

meteorologist leigh glaser is up next with how long our break in the rain will last. >> coming up in sports, the sun came out for the raiders, but could they people, with their first win in a month? >> the 49ers' colin kaepernick coolz off in >> ama: the recent series of storms dumped a lot of rain in wine country. the napa with waters swelled during the storm. reporter: and now it's all downhill from here. the water is starting to recede. the napa river was supposed to reach its peak between 5:00 and 6:00 tonight. we have a closer look for you. it is flowing rather quickly. we have seen all sort office junk in the water, including large tree branches and other debris. we have some video from earlier in the day. one of the reasons city officials and residents are so happy is because there's a flood fro ject going on here, including widening the river here, and they're crediting that flood project with keeping the water from going over the banks. there's been no flooding in the city because of the work. one area on the napa river which did experience some flooding was on oak knoll ave

let's check in with leigh glaser >> i've doppler hd a bit calmer than it has been all day long. you can see the latest returns, the cold front that brought us very heavy rainfall has pushed to the south of the bay area heading towards the central valley as well as southern california, still picking up some areas of rain near morgan hill, gilroy, you can see the intensity has started to lessen. a green on the map, more like blue we're looking for some light rain showers moving through that particular area. you can see near santa theresa boulevard hit and miss activity. it was crazy earlier today. look at the rainfall, four inches in some parts. mount st. helena, two inches. inch and a half in half moon bay and close to an inch for san jose. is this it? is there any more out there? we'll take a look at seven-day forecast coming up. >> ama: one of the biggest trouble spots is where parts of the creek is threatening to overflow the banks, it runs through east palo alto and menlo park and palo alto. they have been calling them warning of potential flooding in the area. at least sever
