i'm meteorologist leigh glaser. lots of sunshine in san jose right now.t ready for slightly cooler temperatures as we head into next >> a solemn ceremony in lower manhattan today. a relic of the september 11th attacks was moved to its permanent home. crews loaded an intersectioning steel beam known as the world trade center cross on to a truck so it can be driven a short distance to the national 9/11 memorial. the 17-foot, 10-ton piece of metal was recovered near the towers following the attacks. >>> well, progress in the negotiations to raise the debt ceiling appear deadlocked. president obama and top lawmakers met for less than an hour this morning at the white house. the meeting was called after house speaker john boehner abruptly broke off negotiations late last night. president obama wants the debt ceiling raised by $2 trillion to avoid another crisis for at least two more years while boehner wants spending cuts that exceed the size of any increase in borrowing without raising taxes. in a conference call, speaker boehner told republicans he hopes to

meteorologist leigh glaser is here with what you can expect. >> leigh: here's a look at highs for today. kept some fog near the coast thanks to the northerly winds. so banked up there. half moon bay, the high, 66. san francisco only managed 66. look at inland locations. it was hot. it was dry. antioch, 98 today. 98 for livermore. concord, your high was 95. 93 in napa. 98 in gilroy. 87 in san jose. these numbers will come up another five or six degrees, and that has prompted a heat advisory for tomorrow. beginning at noon, until 9:00. temperatures inland out towards the del ca, -- delta, livermore, concord, as high as 104 degrees. the only location where we will not see the heat advisory is right near the coast. we'll run through the expected highs for tomorrow coming up. >> john: one of the joys of living in northern california, warm temperatures in the bay area and perfect skiing conditions in the sierra. this is the first time in yearly two decades they're skiing on the july 4th weekend. they're on the slopes in shorts, bikini tops, hawaiian shirts. squaw valley is en. they're taking

let's check in with meteorologist leigh glaser. did we break any records? >> leigh: we didn't. we'll know more as the national weather center compiles their data, but i can show you how warm it is right now. livermore last hour hit 100. brentwood, 102. trace y, 100. a bit cooler now san francisco, 78. 69 in half moon bay. and these numbers up as much as 15 degrees from where we were this time yesterday. now, as alan mentioned, the heat advisory for inland locations. some locations, 10 to as much 150s 5. so we'll look for slow cooling this evening. i want to point out the low clouds and fog just off the coast. it backed off the coast today. that's why we warmed up. it's going to move inland. get ready for a slight cooldown tomorrow. >> alan: now a look at how the heat is affecting everyone, especially in the inland areas. we're live at the alameda county fair where it's 97 degrees. >> reporter: unbelievable. it has practically hovered around that number all day. this is a cooling summer where some mist started kicking my way, and this is where the paramedics have been's all day

i'm meteorologist leigh glaser. we'll take a look at live doppler 7 hd, so where the severe storms are happening right now, plus our accuweather >> thieves stole more than two dozen firearms from a military base in southern california. the bureau of alcohol, tobacco and firearms says 26ak-74 assault rifles and a sniper rifle were stolen from a fly warehouse at fort erwin in san bernardino county on july 15th. arrests have been made, but no details were given. only one rifle was recovered. there's a $10,000 for information leading to more arrests. >>> after more than 75 years in temporary spaces a permanent library is open tonight in san francisco's visitacion valley neighborhood. a loud crowd came out today for the grand opening celebration, including city officials on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. for good luck, dancing dragons took part in the festivities. the 9,000-square-foot sustainable building is located on 215 leland avenue at rutland avenue. >> when we young people who will learn how to read in this

let's go to jeff martinez in for leigh glaser. a little sun here and there today. >>> a little cool but the folks in the midwest and the south are dealing with that heat wave. nice cool weather to deal with this evening. the city and the bay bridge. temperatures tonight cooling off with the clouds rolling in. some patchy fog here and there. and our temperatures will look like this right now. in the 50s. not incredibly cool. 62 concord. 63 fremont. redwood city, 61 degrees for you. how about a look at that emeryville cam in high definition. the time lapse from this afternoon. a little bit of sunshine here and there. started out cloudy and the sun kind of broke through the clouds and fog kind of burned off and then the marine layer rolls back in right about 4:00 right here and starts to come on in. look at that. about 2500 feet deep. fairly nick fo thick for this f year for sure. highs today in the 70s and 60s. that is anywhere from five to perhaps 10 degrees cooler than normal. livermore, 75 today. normal high is about 89. 14 degre
