nbc's leigh ann caldwell is on capitol hill for us following all the developments. good to have you with us. let's talk about what if anything is going to spur action on this legislation among lawmakers. it seems the gulf is pretty wide. >> that's right. what is going to spur action is when people start to lose these expanded unemployment insurance benefits of $600 a week, which people are going it start to lose next week. some this week. now, mcconnell and republicans are already trying to socialize the idea that they're cutting this $600 benefit to $200. mcconnell is on the senate floor earlier just moments ago saying that comparing it to the unemployment benefit during the recession under president obama, that the federal government only gave an additional $25 a week. so saying that this is a big deal even $200 is significant enough. but, ayman, this is going to be the main point of negotiations between republicans and democrats. there is also two other issues that i want to bring up the democrats care about as well. rental assistance and a moratorium on eviction
