out to be unfounded, but it didn't come without scaring quite a few families abc 7 news reporter lena howland is live in fremont selena. how is this impacting the students? well mental health officials say that these fake calls could cause some serious problems for students teachers and parents with fear and anxiety at the forefront now the alameda county sheriff's office says that this is a tactic known as swatting where someone calls in and creates a fake emergency intended to be an extraordinary chain of events that causes a tremendous amount of panic around the same time that fake call was happening here in fremont similar calls were also happening at five other high schools across the bay area. clinical psychologists, dr. andrea. zorba says the impacts of swatting canby felt by teachers parents and students as well as by the wider community. it's incredibly traumatic and a lot of us have ptsd from the other school shootings that have happened. it's something that doesn't just sort of go away when we know that that the threat is over. it's something that sticks with us for a little while.
