lieutenant lenny hutch instance was one of about 50 who prayed for lewis' family. he tells eye witness news he was proud to call her a friend and colleague. she continually was owl standing and doing everything she could to make sure somebody was saved or property was saved and we miss her. hutch instance said he was in shock when he found out his friend died. she was fighting a fire on this home on west oak lane early tuesday morning. fire officials say lewis was one of the first on scene to try and control the fire to the basement. i witnesses news has learned at some point the commander on scene told them to leave the building, but lou is never made it out. we conducted cpr on the scene and enroute to the hospital. tragedy like this is just shocking and very, very painful. as fire officials investigate the first line of duty death of a female firefighter in the city, the people who saw her every day say they would do anything to change what happened. she wouldn't let gender get in the way of anything. she wanted to prove a point and she continually did that. > t
