leon panetta is here with us. great to have you.sians not happy about this nato summit and how it was going. of course, they probably welcome ukraine not being welcomed in to nato just yet. it's a matter of time. so what do you think? >> oh, i think it's very understandable that russia would not be very pleased with what happened over these last few days. number 1, nato expanding with finland and sweden adding 32 members to nato. in addition to that, the commitment that ukraine would be part of nato even though there wasn't a firm timetable. i think it's clear that they will be part of nato in the future. thirdly, the united states and our allies reflecting very strong unity, particularly the g-7 making a security commitment to ukraine in the future in terms of additional weaponry and support. i think it's a strong show of support that putin is not going to have his way and ultimately breaking the will of the united states and our allies. that has to be a bad signal for russia. >> it's not all honky dorie, if you think about it, sec

we're joined by the former defense secretary leon panetta, who also served as director of the cia. secretary, thanks for joining us. the former president of the united states allegedly requested security footage deleted in this investigation into mishandling of highly classified documents. what goes through your mind, mr. secretary, hearing that? >> my first reaction is that, this is richard nixon all over again. the biggest problem with richard nixon when it came to watergate was the cover-up, and what we have here is an obvious cover-up with regards to trying to prevent law enforcement from access to potential evidence in a crime. and that mistake of trying to prevent material from being presented to law enforcement is ultimately what brought nixon down and i think it's what is ultimately going to bring trump down as well. >> how important is it that the government has its hands on that classified document on iran attack plans, the one trump was heard discussing on audiotape? >> well, obviously the concern that i think everybody needs to keep their eye on here is the fact that th
