leonard doyle, welcome.now, as we see, more and more countries offering to take in tens of thousands of these migrants, is that going to be sufficient to accommodate all of them? >> we'll have to wait and see. first of all, thank you so much for having me on. the generosity seen from the european public is extraordinary. we're seeing they're ahead of the politicians who quite often are fearful of the right wing or the cost, the budget implications of bringing in the migrants or refugees. it's going to bring a tidal wave from sir. i can't there are a million displaced people and word is out they're welcomed in europe. >> woodruff: just the idea they're accepting them sends a signal it's okay for more to come. >> indeed, and this has been the fear of politicians, the factor that if you open the doors too wide and give too much of a wedge, you will encourage more and more to come. it's price they're paying for the lack of decisions, the lack of policy and a system to bring people in in an orderly and managed wa

let's speak to leonard doyle from dublin. thanks for being with us. why is it that these refugees want to make germany the final destination. why is it seemingly more open than our countries to take them in? >> germany has a long tradition of being open to migrants and refugees and in this case, the germans are leading in europe, leading with their moral conscience and outach and care. this is a lucky thing, because so many european countries have been very weak in their support for migrants and refugees. we are thankful to others, including sweden. >> are you hoping there will be more of a permanent solution when it comes to refugees entering europe? the whole process has been described by some as incoherent with the different countries having different policies. >> indeed it is, because you call them refugees, many are refugees, but some are economic migrants. it's important to remember that. some are people who have been trafficked or people who are unaccompanied minors. there is a mixed migration going on. nevertheless, they are all deserving of c

. >> leonard doyle talking with us live from geneva. thank you very much, indeed. >> so hungary has closed it's border crossing to serbia. for 30 days we've learned for the last couple of hours, this is the latest of series of border controls to be implemented across europe as it struggles to cope with the crisis. austria has become the latest country to introduce restrictions along it's border with hungary. it follows germany, which has brought in border patrols on its eastern frontiers. slovakia has started spot checks, and austria fearing that this could be the new transit points for refugees. hungary has shut the mainland route into the e.u. and has built its fence along the border with serbia. the next hot spot is going to be on the croatian border. marco. we've been witnessing some fairly dire scenes o on the hungarian-serban border. we understand that some have been making their way into croatia. >> yes, it has been calm. the scenes that we've seen here, the last few hours. at the moment, refugees are here, they're greeted by vol
