am interested in to republican incumbent congressman andew jersey, tom mcarthur, leonard lance. what is the story on those? guest: i love these races because oftentimes i talk with other pundits about which races will be the bellwether elections. argues it will be his home district. someone from the new york times it says that says it will be washington 8th but i think it will be new jersey seven, leonard lance, a moderate republican, one of only eight republicans in the house to vote for cap and trade in 2009 but he is walking a political tightrope because he is been hit from the right in the primary and now being hit on the left by a democrat who used to be the washington director of human rights watch. one of the only democrats who is talking a lot about russia on the campaign trail and raising a lot of money based on his work for -- and his connections leading organizations in d.c. this is a high spending race we view as a tossup at the moment. the third district is in south new jersey and, whereas donald trump narrowly lost the seventh district in central-north new jersey h

leonard lance is his name. he's been there for ten years.as been in local politics in this part of the state for a long time. his family, too, his reputation sort of a moderate republican, a moderate northeast republican. that that has traditionally been a good fit with this district. the question is, though, can that kind of republican survive in the age of trump, with the district turning against trump? lance running against tom mali malinowski, his democratic opponent. so there are 25 districts basically like this around the country. republican seats that voted for hillary clinton in 2016. democrats on election night, they want to win this seat and in a lot of ways, they probably need to win this seat. if they're getting this in election night, they're getting what they need, if they don't, i think that's going to be a disappointment for them. that could complicate their math for 23, as well. so new jersey 7 district, keep an eye on that one in particular on election night, just 19 nights from now. that will wrap things up for this hour.

this district, this is a republican incumbent, leonard lance, been there ten years.is family goes way back a long way in new jersey in politics. you can see it right there. the only district in new jersey that a republican congressman won in 2016 even as hillary clinton was winning the district. this is a clinton district with a republican incumbent in the heart of suburban new jersey, wealthy suburban new jersey. you can also see, by the way, we talk about this demographic that we think maybe is moving. democrats are hoping at least is moving against trump, white college educated. the tenth highest concentration. it is in the seventh district. polling here, i've got to tell you, in the last couple of weeks we've seen a few polls that show lance running behind. when new jersey closes, a couple of other opportunities in the state. keep an eye on this one. democrats, i think, at this point, they're starting to expect that they can pick off this seat. given all that they've been thinking about, this is exactly the kind of seat they need to have taken back. >> thank you,
