leslie: there was an initial spike.t have been as as it would have, but that has tempered. the approval ratings we had seen earlier are not as high as they were, but it is very hard to read off of the current ratings of the president, where that will -- how that will unfold and where that will lay out. -- play out. the key things to look at is how does the health crisis develop, how many americans die or are sick? the economy, how many will keep their jobs? thirdly is the media. this president for better or for worse, will be speaking and claiming that media space every single day for a long time. to go back to tom's question about biden lack of visibility. ratings are coming down, but there is a big question of what the president will claim as success and what people will attribute to him as failures. if the unemployment continues to go up and the economy does not get rebooted, do they blame the governors or the president? these are complicated questions, difficult to have a clear read on. francine: another difficult q

matt: leslie, let me ask you about the campaign.ple hoping for an exciting candidate to run against donald trump. we have joe biden now as the presumptive nominee. certainly, barack obama brings in a huge amount of support. how do you see this playing out? leslie: yes, so barack obama's endorsement is clearly important. strongsanders' very endorsement is something to be taken seriously, because remember, bernie sanders has had that very strong progressive wing of the democratic party. there has always been a question of whether they would turn out and vote for somebody like joe biden. bernie sanders has clearly decided that he is going to get behind joe biden. that is very significant. here we are in a global crisis, a national crisis in the united states. there is deep uncertainty about which direction this heads. the campaign has not really got started. it can't get started in anything resembling what we understand campaigns to have been in the past. there is very serious uncertainty. biden has been up about 6% in recent polls, ab

that has been a big issue. >> leslie: it's definitely a big issue, it's a great question to ask. people are asking, there are individuals out they're here in los angeles in my community and also online. i hear people saying, "i'm tired of sheltering in place, but i'm fearful of going out. what is the plan? what about this testing?" because we are hearing for medical professionals that a lot of it surrounds testing, and the information we obtain from that. i think it's essential that the president addressed the nation on these and other questions, because the nation looks to the leader, and he is our leader right now. they look to the leader for this guidance. quite frankly, for some comfort to say, "we're going to get through this, and this is how." i certainly hope you will hear that today. >> harris: and to find out if what some governors like the governor of alaska has said to me this hour, if what some governors are saying, and even governor cuomo here on the east coast in new york has said so many more people may have had this, the recovery zone might actually be healthier.

leslie brinkley is live with the story. leslie? >> reporter: well, this is orinda care center behind me. they now have 27 confirmed covid positive patients or people affiliated with the care center testing positive. the county just announced all this today. they started an investigation here just three days ago as you'll hear. >> our initial investigation revealed five cases of covid-19. two of those persons were residents of the facility. and they're hospitalized. we're not aware of their current situation or their current condition, rather. three additional persons are staff of the facility and they are now on home isolation. >> the county tested all 45 residents of the 47-bed facility and revealed today another 22 tested positive for covid-19. for a total of 27 in orinda care center alone. half of them are over 80 years old. >> in this facility, residents who are positive will be isolated and separated from the residents who have tested negative and are asymptomatic. we have advised that the staff do not intermingle between thes

leslie is sad not to be here. flight back early enough to be here. you've got me. so, max. why don't we start by talking about your life and why do we start by, with the beginning of your life, before these horrors. tell us a little bit about your family, where you lived. i know it was czechoslovakia but it became a part of hungry so what was your life like, your home, your family before the w war. >> czechoslovakia was a democratic country. we jews had plenty czechoslovakia. our president [inaudible] we considered him our grandfather and i live in a town about 5000 people. we jews were 10% of the town's population and approximately 99% of the families were traditional orthodox jews and they were small business people, farmers and in my town there were teachers and doctors. doctor laszlo, jewish dentist and jewish butcher, baker and we had a beautiful jewish synagogue and [inaudible] which is a jewish school and i can tour and rabbi and it's amazing looking at the town in toronto where it's difficult for all the j
