leslie brinkley there live with the latest on this. leslie? >> reporter: the alameda county sheriff's department is saying a suspect waced into a police officer while he stood between several vehicles here. another officer then shot the suspect. that all happened about four hours ago. here is what we know. several berkeley police officers following up on a criminal investigation and tailing a suspect. at 5:00 they did a vehicle stop at the intersection of groveway and center in castro valley. the suspect's car is red, the undercover vehicle is silver. >> they are in an unmarked car so it looks like maybe they came out of the car and somehow engaged the suspect and somehow during that time the officer got pinned between the two cars. and at it his partner fired at the suspect. >> the suspect was shot by one of the officers while still sitting in the driver's seat and was taken to eden's trauma unit. the berkeley police officer was hospitalized with severe hand and leg injuries that are not life threatening. now, a few more late breaking details
