i am joined by the executive director, leslie hamilton.she is going to tell us why it is important to have volunteers coming out here for example to prune these roses. why do you need to prune roses? >> we do it a process called dead heading, removing the spent blossoms. if you don't, it will form a rose hip, which is a signal for the plant to go dorm mant. by trimming, we get the roses to bloom owl year long. >> as you can see, she is pruning the roses that are not alive anylonger. they suck the nutrients away from the roses that are flourishing here. you can come on out here and help us with this saturday as we are efforting a big volunteer cleanup here at the guadalupe park conservancy. i can tell you, it is going to be a good time. the weather is going to be a little bit warm. if you want to do something green, today might be your day as temperatures are going to be down right perfect. this morning, a little chilly. you might want to grab a coat as we are in the 40s and 50s later on today. we are going to see om of the best numbers tha
