>> reporter: lester, it is now in 160 countries and territories. only about 190 countries and territories on the globe. so it truly is a pandemic now. here in europe there is rationing at supermarkets. borders seem to be closing every single day in italy, the people get together, they are watching the tv at 6:00 every evening, the newscast comes and announces the daily death toll and that death toll continues to go up. germany's angela merkel says this is the worst crisis her country has faced since world war ii never in peacetime has the world looked like this cities across europe now desolate the people too scared or not allowed to go out. but finally tonight, some good news from china. it's seeing no new domestic infections the bad news is the cost was freedom. in january, china locked down more than 50 million in its hardest-hit province, dragging people away who didn't comply. i spoke with one of the uk's top virus trackers, epidemiologist neal ferguson, himself in isolation. he tested positive for the virus today. does the united states need

lester? >> all right. thanks, vicki. joining us are three governors who are on the front lines of this crisis, republican larry hogan of maryland and democrat gretchen whitmer of michigan and j.b. pritzker of illinois. thank you all for being here. i want to start off on the question of testing. i know the president held a conference call with the nation's governors today. testing was part of that conversation. i'll go around the horn on this first one. what percentage of the tests do you need, do you actually have on hand? governor pritzker, i'll start with you. >> about 1%. >> 1%. why is that? >> well, because honestly, we haven't received many tests at all. we started with 200 tests a day we could do and we've ramped up over 1,000 tests a day. perhaps we're going to get to 2,500 by sunday. that's not nearly enough to do what we need to do to test the number of people, to make sure we know what communities we need to really be focusing on. >> governor hogan, what are you seeing in terms of the percentage you have on ha
