i'm kate snow in for lester. and sadly, on this holiday weekend, what the president is calling a wave of tragic and senseless shootings. among them, philadelphia last night, where a shooter wearing body armor walked down the street with a semiautomatic rifle, shooting indiscriminately. the shooter hit adults, a teenager, a toddler. at least five people are dead, more injured. late today, police saying they have the individual responsible in custody. just after that terror, a shooting in fort worth, texas after an annual fourth of july party left at least three dead. and those events follow 30 people being shot, two dead at a block party in baltimore. all of this coming as the community in highland park, illinois held a remembrance ceremony to mark one year since the deadly shooting at their independence day parade. we start tonight with george solis in philadelphia. >> reporter: questions mounting in philadelphia tonight about a gunman who opened fire in a neighborhood, killing five, including one teenager. is th

lester reporting tonight from one of the hottest places in the country, miami, where brutal heat has gripped the city for weeks. the feels like here today, 102 it's a type of heat so many americans are experiencing this week as you'll see later in the broadcast, but we want to begin right now with that breaking news out of new york the arrest of a suspected serial killer thought to have murdered at least three women on long island more than a decade ago they came to be known as the gilgo beach murders, and tonight we're learning how authorities say they were able to track down the suspect, a 59-year-old architect who is also a husband and a father police say they found him by looking at his phone that he allegedly was googling the victims, their family members, and updates on the investigation. police saying they even took dna from a discarded pizza crust. the suspect pleading not guilty late today to murder charges, and it's where we begin tonight with emilie ikeda. >> rex, did you do it? >> reporter: handcuffed and flanked by authorities, max heuermann taken to a long island courth
