meanwhile, the s&p closed at 1,570, up more than half a percent. for more on how stocks are trading here, let's go to the tokyo stock exchange. we have the factory orders data in the u.s. supporting sentiment. are we seeing more optimism here in tokyo? >> yes, we are. i'll come to the levels in just a second. the markets in the major european index got a boost after the u.s. data and investor sentiment was lifting after news of cypres cyprus concluding a b deal. let's look at the markets this april 3rd and both index is in the positive and well above that 12,000 level on the nikkei. topics just below that thousand level and see if we can get above that. yesterday, we did see the nikkei fall 1% after plummeting 300 points at one stage but managed to close above 12,000. the move yesterday looked like a correction of sorts, markets taking the position of the government and bank of japan on what needs to be done to battle deflation and achieve that 2% n inflation goal as well. and markets and investors looking for further news or action. we'll see as the bank of japan meet meeting ends on thursday. ai

let's take the s&p. how high is the s&p going to go?ying it could touch 1700 this year, larry and i still think that's reasonable. i think the driving force is two-fold this year. growth is coming in faster than expected year in. growing three in the first quarter rather than two. >> do you think that will last? >> i think it will. all year? >> i do. >> you got smart guys like mark zenaiday saying 3% in the first quarter but trickles down to 2%, 1.5% and then maybe next year -- you think it's going to stay higher. >> i don't think it's going to be 3, 3, 3, but i think first quarter could be greater than 3. but i think we'll average more than 3%. i think we've got a revised or reaccelerating emerging world. calmed down europe, no longer freezing people that, you know, like it's going to blow up and take down the global recovery. we still have full-out monetary stimulus. >> what's your favorite investment? >> i think right now the manufacturing stocks, industrials and materials. >> sleeping. >> i think commodities make a literally in the

let's go through all the indexs. 11 on the dow. s&p is down over 1%. that is 16.57. nasdaq taking it on the chin today, down 1.1%. that is a 36 point loss. and the russell 2000, these small and mid-sized caps have been hit very hard for the past three days, taking much more significantly. some people say, look you don't look for the dow for the trends. you look for russell 2000. we'll focus more on these throughout this next hour. stay tuned for that. liz: what do investors want? they want yield. they went searching for it on this down day. despite the selloff, four of the five highest yielding stocks in the s&p 500 at one point were higher today. you have windstream, pitney bowes, frontier communications. they all pay yields of more than 10%. frontier communications and centurylink pay over 6%. be careful of short interest on some of these names. people like the dividends. david: by the way a big day people are focusing on for overall economic trends of course friday when we get the march employment figures. we got sort of some bad wind what was happening particular
