so i wrote that column about that and somebody at the david letterman show saw the column and called me up and said would you come on david's show and set fire to-- and again, this is how pathetic we are, authors. i said of course. so they they want to have a rehearsal, it's going to be fun and whacky things, i'm going to set fire to a bare of underwear with a barbie doll. it sounds like fun. you get there there's nine million stage hands and assistant producer and assistant-assistant producer and a guy from the far-- fire marshal's office. and nobody red the column and all they knew a segment producer called me up. and the rest, i'm just some guy showing up and they had gotten hold of a roller blade barbie and ken and they had a bunch of underpants, boxers and briefs and a bunch of different kinds of hair spray on this big table and then all of these like really serious new york people gathered around and it's not like a fun mood. and then the fire marshal guy is watching. anyway i'm trying to kind of liven it up because this should be fun, right? it sounds like it should be fun, an
