rick leventhal. now to mike tobin to the boston federal courthouse where officials ordered an evacuation. what the heck was going on? >> i tell you, all of the chaos that we saw here at the courthouse is probably an example of just how high tension is here in boston. certainly as an example of how high the tension is among the media. i can show you the big crush of media out in front of the federal courthouse right now. it's also an example of what happens when the general public is brought in the mix, armed with iphone cameras and security cameras and communicating fast and loose over the internet. you had all of those tips, that an arrest had been made, not been made. by that time, everyone crushed here. they were all jockeying for position trying to get into the right spot to get any kind of vehicle that came into the courthouse. then all at once, the federal homeland security police officers came out, u.s. marshals came out, pushing everybody back across the street with great haste. the marshals

. >> much more on the ricin attack but now back to fox's rick leventhal and the report on two suspects in the boston marathon bombing. rick, i cut you off. go back to the pictures you were telling me about that you yourself have seen about the two that are persons of interest. >> well, in a nutshell, greta, the law enforcement community has photos that have been distributed for law enforcement eyes only. they are on the lookout for two persons of interest, possible suspects in the marathon becoming. i have seen the photos but we are not going to show the photos and limit description of the photos because we don't want to jeopardize the fbi's investigation. the important point here is to catch whoever is responsible for the horrific events that happened behind us on boylston street. the fbi schedule add news briefing earlier this afternoon and they canceled that. then they were going to release a statement and they canceled the statement. they had a statement earlier today that reprimanded the media for miss reporting an arrest was made and a suspect was in custody in this particular ca

our senior correspondent rick leventhal is in the studio tonight it sounds like people in support of gun laws have problems and the people who are against restrictive gun laws have problems. >> they do and this bill very very restrictive. i want to give you one example. if you want to buy any rifle or shotgun or ammo for those weapons moving forward in connecticut. you will need a long gun eligibility certificate. in order to get that, you have to take a firearm safety course. be fingerprinted, and then undergo a national criminal background check. the bill does not ban high capacity magazines despite pressure from newtown families. you won't be able to buy new mags if you have any holding more than 10 rounds you have to register them. >> turning off the spigot is critical. you have got to draw the line and say from this point forward all sales will be prohibited. >> the new legislation will also require universal background checks for the sale of all firearms. restrictions for the mentally disabled and will add more than 100 guns to the banned weapons list. if you are convicted of a

rick leventhal has been working his sources tonight and throughout the day today. the president what a touching ceremony it was. now, rick, the focus goes back to this investigation. what is this sense and what are you hearing about where we move next on this story? >> well, clearly, bill, they wouldn't be releasing any video or photos of potential suspects. if they didn't need the public's help. and finance likely that the fbi was trying to locate suspicious individuals on its own without involving the public for fear that if they did involve the public seeing the pictures on television would alert these suspects and that they would go into hiding. it may well be that they have had a tough time locating, tracking down these people. and clearly now, if they are releasing the images, then they do need the public's help. what's going to happen next, once this video and these photos are released is that they will be inundated with tips. some valid perhaps. many, perhaps, invalid or of no help to investigators but all of them have to be checked out what investigators w

. >> gretchen: they have released photos, for example, rick leventhal, to police and he was able to view believe bill hemmer at fox viewed those photos. but up until this point, fox has made the decision to not outwardly show the photos because they didn't want to impair the investigation. let's go to molly line. if you've been hearing our discussion about these photo, what more can you add to it? >> you guys covered a lot of ground. there are some photos out there, law enforcement have seen these. they have not been released to the public. we know that authorities throughout the course of the investigation over the last several days have been poring over all the photos and video that the public brought forward and managed to isolate some people that they're interested in. as you mentioned, they're not calling them suspects. they'd like to talk with these folks. they've been sharing this information with their fellow law enforcement community hoping to find these individuals and essentially to get to the bottom of things to clear things up. to talk to anybody they might be interested in.

rick leventhal joins us now on it. rick, what do we know about this? is not really a surprised, martha, he was fired. a lot of people were surprised he wasn't fired last december when the university decided to suspend him three grapes and fine coach rice $50,000. they were mulling after learning about individual yos that show the coach at practice shoving players, pushing players, throwing basketballs. you see there at players. and what you can't hear is the language he is using which we can't repeat on television. he is using racial slurs and calling them any number of names that you can imagine. the university decided today to end its affiliation with the coach, terminate the contract. apparently there were some negotiation over his exit. there was a tweet that was just sent out by the university a short time ago that said, based upon recently revealed information, and a review of previously discover issues, rutgers has terminated the contract of mike rice. he had a couple years left on a $3.25 million contract. martha i heard you mention this earlie
