adam levine. he recently spent five weeks in liberia setting up and running an ebola unit. he has direct experience in the field. thank you for being with us. i really appreciate your time. >> thank you. >> so i obviously am a jerk on tv, i'm a layman who doesn't have any expert knowledge about this at all. i feel like i'm trying to understand the virology here so i can get a better grasp on the news here. can i ask you to correct me if i explained any of that wrong if i plained the way symptoms typically manifest? >> no, that was actually very good for the most part. one thing i will say is that typically in the past ebola has been known as ebola hemorrhagic fever because it was thought that many or most cases involved hemorrhage or bleeding and they've renamed it ebola disease because the vast majority of cases have no bleeding whatsoever. only about 18% of the cases in the current epidemic have any bleeding. for the most part what's killing patients from this disease is the severe dehydration from diarrhea and vomiting and organ damage but only a small portion of patient
