between cory lewandowski and paul manafort, the trump consider turned from lewandowski to manafort. jr. played a role in pushing lewandowski out. all this will get back to questions of who has been the source of some of the information that has gone to "the new york times" through the great reporting they have been doing over the last few days. >> they cite, three, if i am getting it correctly. memory serves me directly. in one of their reports. three people advised the white house. not as if this is coming from law enforcement. >> right. >> lot of the major leaks have so far. times was clear in its reporting to say they clearly had white house sources. it is another example of how divided and porous this administration is. and it is a reflection how divided and porous the trump campaign was. >> why would somebody in the white house or connections in the white house supposedly supports the president, leak stuff about donald trump jr. >> keystone kops. this isn't a team that is running as a disciplined, goal-oriented unit. it is trump's never run anything that way in his whole life.

in other words, they'll remain in orbit around him, as lewandowski has done. they'll probably end up on tv somewhere. a lot of these people will either get a big interview on tv, a confessional interview in exchange for a contract on one outlet or another. they'll be part of the commentary universe around trump. but more seriously, there are a couple things here. first of all, we're at a stage, an odd stage in american public life where we're turning to generals for order. you have mcmaster as the national security adviser, you have mattis as the newly retired general who took over the pentagon, even though the rules beforehand would have barred that, because he had only retired a couple of years earlier, and now you have kelly as chief of staff. there have been generals in that role before. there was colin powell in that role. but the fact that it's kind of the american public life turning to generals, even some democrats and liberals expressing relief that the generals are somehow maybe in charge, i think is a sad commentary on where we are as a government.

he did the same thing when it came to letting corey lewandowski go and flynn, and he let someone else do the dirty work. when the president comes out and says sessions is weak, think that's very confusing because one of the reasons that he brought him on, because sessions was so strong on one of the key issues that the president is so passionate about, which is immigration. i think that is something that the attorney general is still fighting very hard for today, rolling out a new crack down on sanctuary cities. he is also executing the president's policy with regard to civil asset forfeitures. it is unfortunate that the president doesn't recognize what sessions is in there doing to execute his policies, and instead he is so focused on the fact that sessions recused himself from the russia probe, which he really needed to do given the fact he shouldn't be investigating a situation that he was involved with through the campaign. so in my view, sessions mailed the right choice to recuse himself. unfortunately, the president just can't seem to get passed that. >> alice and the rest of ou
