this happened in the southbound lanes of interstate 880 in san leandro near lewelling boulevard around 2:30 am. four men were in a mitsubishi when several men in a white car pulled up and one person in the white car opened fire. the driver of the mitsubishi was hit in the head but managed to pull over into the center divide. that man is listed in critical condition. >> we don't have anything. we don't have anything except it was a white sedan. if you were in this area and you heard or saw something, please call your local chp officer and tell them. >> chp had to shut down south on 880 for more than six hours during the investigation. unfortunately, there are no surveillance cameras along that stretch of the freeway. >>> environmental groups are supporting a plan to expand and reservoir in the east bay. the project will increase the reservoir capacity from 160,000 acre-feet to 275,000. conservation groups approve of the project because a portion of that water will help maintain wetlands and wildlife. expanded reservoir, south of brentwood, will hold enough water to meet the needs of 1.4

the first happened just a few miles up the interstate on monday morning near lewelling avenue in sanleandro. a man was shot and at last check was in critical condition. police are still looking for the gunman. there have now been 100 shootings on bay area freeways since november of 2015. 6 people have died. police say many off the shootings are gang related. . (mark) breaking news... an army blackhawk helicopter has gone down off the coast of hawaii. the coast guard is reporting that the chopper went down in the water off the coast of oahu. five people were on the helicopter. all five crew members are missing this morning. the coast guard has found a debris field. they received the call about the downed helicopter around 10:00 last night-- hawaii time. the black hawk was reportedly conducting training exercises when it lost communication. we will continue to keep you updated on the search efforts... right here on the kron 4 morning news. it happened about 230 in the morning on southbound 880 at lewelling in san leandro. a black mitsubishi sedan was traveling in the second from the right lane, when a white vehicle pulled to its right and opened fire. the driver of the black sedan was critically injured suffering a gunshot wound to the head .. the three others in the car were uninjured. the chp says shortly before the shooting they received reports of a road rage incident sot officer joe fowler/chp 43-50 being that there was a road rage incident prior if we can connect those two maybe it was targeted, but other than that we have no definitive answer the chp also doesn't know if gangs are involved. and they currently have no description of the suspect or their car, other than it's white.sotit does worry me because i have lived here all my life and things have really changedsot it makes you much more watch people's actions and take that extra precaution for yourself and your familywhile some are bothered by the sheer number of these freeway shootings and are taking steps to protect themselves, others are

this is i-880 southbound at the lewelling boulevard.e are just off the off ramp traffic is now getting back to normal but chp says it will be ours before the traffic pattern returns to normal. at this point the victim's vehicle the black mitsubishi has been moved off the freeway where it was sitting for hours. at last check chp says the driver is in critical condition with a had bullet wound. that is the update from 15 minutes ago. at 2:30 this morning chp received multiple 911 calls about a road rage incident on i- 880 southbound through san leandro and then they got the 911 call that said shots were fired on the freeway. officers arrived shortly thereafter and found the victim's vehicle with the driver shot in the head. he was able to control the vehicle and pull the vehicle over to the center of the road the median area. the man who was shot transported to the hospital in google condition. three others in the vehicle and injured. those men are spanish speakers and they are cooperating. the suspects were likely driving a white vehicle

the first one was on monday night when a driver was shot in the head on 8-80 in san leandro near lewelling boulevard. the second shooting happening a few miles south in hayward, near the highway 92 junction. this time police got a call about men hanging out of a car window and aiming a weapon at another car. the c-h-p says the victim was a teen girl. they say she was terrified and curled up in a ball to avoid being hit by a bullet. investigators say right now it does not appear the two cases are related. (robin) a wildfire is growing in mariposa county near yosemite. the south - fork -fire has burned just under 23- hundred acres. right now it is five- percent contained. firefighters have told people in the area to be ready to evacuate. a command post has been set up at the wawona campgrounds. firefighters say, their main focus is protecting the community nearby and the giant sequoias in the area. there is no word yet on what caused the fire.
