don't worry about that. jonathan, you heard of blind baking? >> i'm terrible. >> bean, parchment paper and set the oven at 400 degrees and you want to prebake the shell so that way it looks kind of just like that. >> for about how long? >> for about 15 minutes. >> okay. >> now we can adjust the oven while we have the pie shell baking we'll make the filling. >> all right. get in there, robin. >> here we go. >> here we go. >> look, we have cream cheese and it needs to be room temperature. yeah. >> room temperature. >> needs to be room temperature and have a little bleu cheese and american maytag bleu and have butter. >> oh, yeah. >> and now three eggs and you can begin to whisk that. >> i believe the whisking has begun. >> yeah. >> i should ask, you can buy the pie crust, right? leyla gulen continues our team coverage with alternatives. leyla gulen? >> there are not too many. we do have sky 7 h.d. over the west oakland station. we will go over to that to see what we are looking at. you can see the trains standing if place. that is the story this morning. two maintenance vehicles collided in the transbay tube damaging the third rail causing huge significant delays for bart commuters. there is the peek. all trains that traverse the bay are affected. the obligate line not affected is richmond-fremont line. if you head out of oakland to san francisco youill be affected. there are alternates, you can take your car. friday lite across the bay area, so not too many accidents or too much congestion. so far. you have a san francisco bay ferry, and we will start off right with mike nicco because it sound like a beautiful forecast. >> good morning, everyone, we start with live doppler 7 hd at 6:02 and the radar and satellite are lacking so dry and sun to start friday. 53 and hazy sunshine. we are mild for 12 hours at 70 at launch and at 80 in the afternoon and a mild 74 in the evening. inland neighborhoods the next 12 hours we will warm significantly from 54 to 81 at noon to near 90 at 4:00. you will need a lot water if you are out and about. and 81 at 7:00. at the coast it will be warm but you will have breezes starting off in the 40's and near 60 at noon and 63 at 4:00 but the temperatures will drop back into the mid 50's and breezy at 7:00. >> thank you. breaking news in san francisco, are an early morning fire broke out at a popular restaurant, chess spencer, investigators say it was clear the building was burning for a child before a neighbor called it in at 1:30. no one was inside the restaurant. the fire spread to the two buildings on either side including an apartment building. firefighters estimate the damage to all buildings at more than $1.5 million. the cause of the fire is under investigation. >> to ic investigating the stabbings of two men, the victims were found at carolina and 8th after 2:00. it is not clear if that is where the stabbings occurred. they were taken to the hospital and conditions are unknown. >> more on breaking news near washington, dc, where a small plane smashed into the roof of an apartment building this morning. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo is following from the newsroom. you have information of who was hurt? >> the abc7 news affiliate in the area reporting the pilot is a 61-year-old man and his passenger suffered minor injuries and was treat the at scene and a 33-year-old woman in the apartment went to the hospital but with non-life threatening injuries. it happened at 3:30 a.m. our time, just the tail of the cessna staging from the roof the three-story apartment building and the crane comes in and pulls the aircraft from the roof and lowers it slowly down to the ground and the last step is to strap the aircraft to a large truck and it is hauled away. a neighbor says he her the crash and the apartment shook and he came face-to-face with what happened. >> i heard backing on the door. it was my neighbor. he told my what happened and shows me his apartment with a plan inside of his living room. >> a woman inside the apartment was hurt and there were four adults and two children asleep in the apartment at the time of crash. a total of nine adults, seven children, and three pets were evacuated. the plane crashed because it ran out of fuel. they say the apartment building is structurally intact. the pilot reportedly stumbled out of the plane and told a resident "i think we hit your apartment." >> wow! happening now in the south bay, police and volunteers will resuming a search for a missing man with multiple disabilities including dimentia. abc7 news reporter matt keller has more. matt? >> i spoke with a deputy who pack patrolling the neighborhood all night and he said the search area has expanded and he expects the light to help the people looking for the missing man who is 63 years old. he lives in cupertino. he is 6' tall, 150 pounds. he was last seen at 11:30 yesterday morning at his home with blue jeans and slippers. 35 people and a helicopter crew and search dogs were looking in the neighborhood until midnight. we are told he h trouble communicating suffering from dementia and a.l.s. and has no money and is on medication. the sheriff says that the police departments were keeping an eye out for him so if you see him, call 9-1-1. >> at 6:08. an arizona woman is with her family after being freed from mexican jail after being accused of smuggling drugs from the united states, the 42-year-old mother walked out of mexican jail with her husband after spending a week behind bars accused of smuggling drugs. the soldiers found 12 pounds of marijuana under her seat on the bus but surveillance video shows she only had a purse and bottle of water so a mexican judge dismissed the case. >> i'm free! fm i was innocent. so, i was very happy. >> her husband says he believes mexican authorities wanted them to pay a bribe for his wife's release. >> we have leyla gulen look at alternatives if you can find alternatives. >> you can see plenty of green. these are alternatives. the san mateo bridge, the dumbarton bridge, everything is green and we have just a little bit of a delay, so we will take it to sky 7 right now where we can see what the macarthur maze and bay bridge toll plaza is looking like, and it looks like traffic is funneling into the bay bridge toll and of course, we do see plenty of traffic building up when the metering lights are on, which they are, and we may see extra traffic today and that is due to the transbay tube being almost out of commission. on the map i can show you what we are talking about, it will take you 20 minutes to head away from the maze and to the toll. here we go, our map shows if you are traveling between oakland and san francisco you will expect to see heavy delays of up to an hour right now and amy hollyfield is in oakland and watching passengers sitting in the bart cars going nowhere. this is going to las

>> no. >> do it. do it. >> it's my responsibilities -- >> i can't help that. >> i can't turn them over to somebody else. >> reporter: unrelenting dykes turns to the children. come here, kid, and the two in the back. you, and the girl and that boy right there. come here. >> reporter: then he locks in on ethan sitting right behind the driver. the bus driver pleads not ethan and puts himself between the boy and dykes. the other children are screaming and hiding behind their seats. 15-year-old trey the watts has the courage to dial 911. >> he is asking for kids. >> he is asking for kids? >> yes, ma'am. >> he's aiming the gun at the bus driver. >> yes, ma'am. >> what's going on? >> the bus driver -- >> what's he doing now? >> the bus driver dies after being shot five times. dykes drags ethan to an underground bunker he built on his property. ethan has autism and no one knows how he will react. and an army of 300 law enforcement descends on the scene stunned by what's happening in this tiny town of midland city, and a six day siege begins. >> my heart just stopped. >> reporter: we spoke exclusively with key members of the team of federal, state and local authorities, who fought to save ethan's life. >> we thought ethan was going to die. >> reporter: this is the bunker seen for the first time, 12 feet below ground. only eight feet by six feet, about the size of a parking space. it has ventilation, electricity, bunk beds, painstakingly built over months. dykes tells police to speak to him through this plastic pipe which has a deadly surprise. there's a bomb in it. >> they were on top of the pipe, that he could have detonated the bomb any time. >> i was immediately concerned. >> reporter: the fbi quickly dispatches molly am mond, one of its top behavioral scientists, to alabama. >> he was angry but intelligent and controlled. >> reporter: police choose words carefully. >> i want to thank him for taking care of our child. >> reporter: they know dykes is watching tv. dykes grows more dlij belligerent. it is now day six. listen as he rants at negotiators. >> you go ahead and someone [ bleep ] down that [ bleep ] funnel up there to their death. >> reporter: dykes is furious at the government. >> i have the ability and [ bleep ] to show just how [ bleep ] corrupt this system is, just how corrupt you people are. >> reporter: they say dykes only saw one option, killing himself as a grandiose statement. and there's a bizarre twist. his intent was to have a female reporter down there with him and she would hold his hand, in fact he got his final message out to the world, and then committed suicide in her presence. >> reporter: the danger to ethan is increasing every second. >> he was handling the weapons and the bomb inside of the bunker on a more frequent basis. >> reporter: and dykes has a diabolical plan for ethan. >> jim dykes relayed to negotiators, if anything happens to me, i have told ethan to pull the trigger. that meant he had told ethan to detonate the ied the second ied inside the bunker. >> reporter: he's teaching ethan to kill himself. it's decision time. the tactical team would have to rescue ethan by force. the job falls to commander kevin cornelius and his team. men with families. >> it certainly isn't lost on me, majority of them have children as well. >> the command post when authorities were granted to execute the plan, there was silence. >> reporter: the team breaches the bunker with a stun grenade. dykes detonates the exterior with a bomb. >> they received gun fire from mr. dykes. >> reporter: there was an ied inside the bunker?
