the decision to add the lighthouse was made an eight team 20's.t that time, traffic was increasing on the great lakes, so they felt this was a significant spot. in 1825, congress appropriated money to build lighthouse just south of where we are standing, right at the mouth of the river. it was built by winslow lewis and the construction of the building was some par and led to deterioration and soon after, it would collapse with a november storm. when the original tower collapsed, the need for a new tower was evident. the tower was moved several hundred yards to the north on lake huron and congress appropriated about $5,000. construction began and the new tower was completed and lantern was lit in december. the lighthouse laid a very significant role because you had mariners going up and down the the water river, so was quick moving and swift. lineg sure they were in with that area, this provided safe harbor for mariners on lake to be which could prove treacherous, especially in october or november. it's a very important lighthouse for that reason.

's as well as that sea breeze has kicked up, 78 degrees right now in ocean city, 77 at barnegat lighthouse are our dewpoints. they tell us about that moisture content at the surface also how humid it feels. yesterday was a very steamy day. you still may notice the humidity but it is more comfortable with that drop in dewpoints on the backside of a cold front that came through yesterday brought us a few showers sprinkles in the morning but storm scan3 showing us the trend of the day today quiet conditions, all across the region just a couple of passing high clouds. that is because high pressure is in control off the eastern seaboard right now that promotes stable air sinking air and you notice that clockwise rotation although the shower and thunderstorm activity well up wind wraparound that high, that area of high pressure keeping all that precipitation at bay. overnight tonight mostly clear and mild only falling back to 69 degrees as we head into the day tomorrow, lots of sunshine once again. fairly comfortable humidity levels, not too oppressive but a high temperature still running above
