abc7 news reporter lilian kim is live in san francisco. lilian, a lot of damage around the city and a warning about going near the ocean tonight. >> reporter: eric, a high surf advisory is in affect until 5:00 p.m. tomorrow. because of that people we talk to are playing it safe. from sonoma county to monterey county, beachgoers are told to be careful. breaking waves at the shoreline are expected to exceed 20 feet. at ocean beach dog walkers are keeping their distance. >> normally like today if the advise -- advisory was not out we would be walking along the water's edge. the dogs like to play in the water, but we are avoiding that today. >> reporter: farther inland it is the saturated soil that has people worried. a chunk of the hillside below an apartment building gave way sending mud and a few boulders down the sidewalk. the city inspectors looked at the damage and they advised the property owner to call in a geo technical engineer. >> for an abundance of caution the property owner should go and make sure the property is safe and they do
