matteson: -- madison: eli lilly is looking at zepbound and sleep apnea.hat could widen medicare to expand it to even more patients. if they are seeing a significant improvement in supply, at least that is what they are saying, in the second half of the year into early 2025 with more and more plants coming online that will start producing the drugs. part of this is widening access. more insurers covering the drugs, hopefully, and also more supply coming online. sonali: what are the risks at this point? is it a competitive risk or is it a pain for the service risk here? when you think about insurance, where are the biggest concerns among investors? madison: the biggest concern among investors was the supply challenge, being able to meet the seemingly endless demand for the drugs. eli lilly said they don't actually have manufacturing or supply issues. the problem is, there is just a finite amount of manufacturing capacity for these injectable medicines. so, they are having to build new capacity into the system and if that takes a little time to come on mine

can we extrapolate the results to the glp-1 drugs that are marketed today by novo and eli lilly?i think it's an important kind of precedent that we need to watch, because we're seeing it's not just in parkinson's, but a lot of the other diseases that you and i and the team have spoken about, cardio metabolic diseases in general. so, i think this opens the door for thinking about linkages. and here's why. i think this is a disconnect. we know there's a relationship between people who are diagnosed with diabetes and the propencive to demonstrate parkinson's or parkinson's-like symptoms. so, we know there's some biologic relationship between that kind of insulin metabolic access, and that's why glp-1s can be very important. so, while this did not make the cut for being kind of competitive on the weight loss and diabetes race with glp-1s. that kind of mechanism of function in parkinson's and this early promising data, remember, it's not reversing parkinson's, but slowing down the symptoms for 12 months, that can be incredibly valuable to quality of life. and i think this has impl imp

i think it's pretty interesting that you have eli lilly, mcdonald's and coca-cola all reporting this as cheryl and i were talking about, this is a trend that's going to be a strong trend, strong theme over the course of the next five to 10 years which is the glp-1 drugs, aka ozempic or munjaro and zepbound versus s foods and beverages that aren't quite as healthy. with coca-cola, volume was flat. pepepsico, week, volume was negative. mcdonald's is blaming some issues on inflation. i don't know that that tells the whole truth. you see inflation as a headwind is a short-term headwind and you hope we can combat inflation in the near future. if they were to come out and say glp-1 drugs are hurting us, people don't want to order a super size french fry from us anymore, that is a completely different story so it's going to be interesting, maria. over the course of the next three, five, 10 years to see how coca-colas, pepsicos, mcdonald's a, yum brands of the world, how they evolve to counter what's happening with the glp-1 drugs. as for amazon and apple, those are two big ones this week. i
