the lilly medicine foundry will focus on two things.lying drugs for its clinical trials. it will be just down the road from where we are today in lebanon. this building behind me will one day produce the active ingredient in diabetes and weight loss drugs mounjaro and zepbound. this facility will use more efficient process for making it that lilly scientists developed. the company wants to repeat that success with its other medicines. dave ricks telling me sometimes small changes can lead to dramatic results. >> for production levels, sometimes these steps can yield three or four fold output. 300%, 400% improvement. that can be the case sometimes. for clinical trials, by centralizing all that work, especially for the complex molecules, we can save time because if you're doing this through third parties, you got to often get multiple third parties to work together and then work on their open slots and their schedule versus the fastest time to patient. here we'll have the capacity to get the fastest time to patient by controlling the proc

eli lilly shares down 7%. alphabet kicking off tech earnings, reported a double beat with a.i. revenue by 35%, $11 billion in that cloud revenue. stock is up 6 and-a-half percent right now. we are going to hear from microsoft and meta after the bell tonight. and then of course there's amazon and apple tomorrow night. these could be market movers coming up, particularly apple. what are your thoughts on earnings season so far, particularly in big tech. >> so the alphabet earnings is pretty exciting. i'm someone who is on the record as being a major bull of nvidia. if you listened to the call, the ceo talked about how generative a.i. and a.i. tools used for search is increasing interest and more search activity on the google search engine and we like seeing that if you're an nvidia bull because that means that you're starting to find ways to monetize a.i. these companies have been investing and so this is really bullish if you're on the a.i. train in any way, shape or form. he also talked about the cloud which again really benefits some of the semis and alphabet is not seen necess

one of the investments they unveiled yesterday was a £280 million investment from lilly, the world'st pharmaceutical company, into new medicines. that research will include the first real—world trial of weight loss drugs and its effect on worklessness, productivity and the reliance on the nhs. so notjust the reliance on the nhs. so notjust the effect on waistband. wes streeting writing in the telegraph this morning saying the cost to the individuals on obesity are clear, and less healthy and shorter life, and less healthy and shorter life, and then he adds, our widening waistbands are also placing a significant burden on our health service costing the nhs11 billion a year, even more than smoking, and it is holding back our economy. he goes on to talk about how obesity —related illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes mean that people take extra sick days or cannot work. there is no suggestion that unemployed people would be prioritised for weight loss injections which are usually purchased privately, but an unusual new approach being suggested by the government. find new approach

lilly increased manufacturing and the shortage was subsequently lifted.l have a lot of concerns about the compounded drugs. not that i think some of the ingredients are problematic in these drugs and we have seen. the efficacy derives from the fact that you deliver a very constant exposure of the active ingredient. you don't get big peaks and troughs of the drugs. i'm skeptical the compounders are achieving that. the fda said the shortage was over. they said the compounders had to exit the market. the compounding association sued. and the fda backed away from that on friday night. i'm surprised by it because i thought this lawsuit was weak. i thought maybe they had done that to try to extinguish the litigation but the litigation itself wasn't a real threat to the agency. so, i'm concerned that the agency did this as a policy decision because there was a lot of consternation about the compounders coming out of the market because the patients were accessing lower cost alternatives. >> if you are an individual who wanted to take one of these medications, and
